The School of University Arts and Sciences invites applications for a tutor to engage in one-on-one and group tutorial with students in a variety of mathematics and physics courses. The ability to tutor students in calculus and physics is a requirement.Tutoring schedule is likely to include Fridays; however, the schedule has not been finalized and could fluctuate based on need.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

- Aid students to achieve required course outcomes in the subjects of mathematics and physics
- Support students with other academic questions, either by directly assisting or referring them to another tutor
- Use guiding questions to elicit critical thinking in students
- Provide constructive and meaningful feedback to students

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities

- Demonstrated ability to work with students with diverse backgrounds and academic abilities
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills




- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both orally and in writing)
- Strong competencies in working independently and as part of a team
- Excellent time management

Education and Experience

- Bachelor’s degree in Math, Physics, or a related field

This is a casual position (0%), commencing October 11, 2026, and ending April 23, 2027. Salary and Advantages are in accordance with the SCFA Collective Agreement. Salary and benefits are in accordance with the Selkirk College Faculty Association Collective Agreement Schedule G – Tutors. The salary range is $31.74 - $39.33 per hour and is based on qualifications and experience. Preference will be given to SCFA members who are on layoff status and eligible for recall, as outlined in Articles 5.6 and 5.9 of the SCFA Collective Agreement.
