As a Volunteer Firefighter / Rescue Member, you’ll train with the best, respond to emergencies, and protect lives, property, and our community. From battling blazes and rescuing accident victims to providing life-saving first aid, every call you answer will make a real difference.

What You’ll Do:

- Respond to fire, rescue, and medical emergencies
- Operate firefighting and rescue equipment
- Participate in ongoing training to keep your skills sharp
- Be a dependable member of a close-knit, highly trained team

What You Bring:

- A strong sense of duty and community pride
- Physical fitness and mental resilience
- Ability to remain calm in high-stress situations
- Live within the Municipality of Central Elgin or within reasonable response time to the Belmont, Port Stanley, Union, or Yarmouth fire stations
- Commitment to training and regular call response
- Be at least 18 years old
- Have a valid Class G driver’s license

Here’s what’s expected of every member of our crew:

- Complete formal training courses within your first year (evenings and weekends).
- Obtain medical clearance and pass a physical test to ensure you’re ready for the demands of the job.
- Pass a driver’s abstract and secure a vulnerable sector check to meet our high standards of trust and professionalism.
- Attend and successfully complete all mandatory training and complete the required minimum number of training hours each year.
