As a

Volunteer Firefighter / Rescue Member , you’ll train with the best, respond to emergencies, and protect lives, property, and our community. From battling blazes and rescuing accident victims to providing life-saving first aid, every call you answer will make a real difference.

What You’ll Do

Respond to fire, rescue, and medical emergencies

Operate firefighting and rescue equipment

Participate in ongoing training to keep your skills sharp

Be a dependable member of a close-knit, highly trained team

What You Bring

A strong sense of duty and community pride

Physical fitness and mental resilience

Ability to remain calm in high-stress situations

Live within the Municipality of Central Elgin or within reasonable response time to the Belmont, Port Stanley, Union, or Yarmouth fire stations

Commitment to training and regular call response

Be at least 18 years old

Have a valid Class G driver’s license

Here’s what’s expected of every member of our crew:

Complete formal training courses within your first year (evenings and weekends).

Obtain medical clearance and pass a physical test to ensure you’re ready for the demands of the job.

Pass a driver’s abstract and secure a vulnerable sector check to meet our high standards of trust and professionalism.

Attend and successfully complete all mandatory training and complete the required minimum number of training hours each year.
