POSITION SUMMARY:The Community Outreach Worker will work 1-1 with individuals, focusing on promoting skill development and providing individual supports out in the community. This position provides support to individuals for tasks, such as: using public transportation, financial management, general household management, relationship building, community connections and supporting the development of ongoing supports.*SHIFTS:There is a full-time and part-time opening:Full Time:36 hours/week(including evenings and weekends) - on a flexible schedule to accommodate the availability of the people supported. Your schedule will be developed in consultation with your supervisor.Part Time:36 hours/week(including evenings and weekends) - on a versatile schedule to accommodate the availability of the people supported, with primary working days being Tuesdays, Thursdays & Saturdays.



Your schedule will be developed in consultation with your supervisor.*May be required to work Statutory Holidays.LOCATIONS:various locations in the Tri-Cities and surrounding communitiesQUALIFICATIONS:Diploma in Human Services or Community Support Worker or equivalentClass 5 Drivers License and required to use own vehicleCommunity Care First Aid/CPR/NVCI, Food Safe CertificateMaintain Vulnerable Sector Criminal Record Check clearance throughout employmentKnowledge and experience in the facilitation of the Person Centered Planning Process, positive behavioral support techniques, and skills-based trainingKnowledge and ability to use augmentative communication, strong oral and written communication skills. Ability to interact effectively with individuals and familiesExperience assisting people with support needs related to developmental disabilities and/or adaptive functioningMust be available to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekendsThis position requires BCGEU union membership
