JOB TITLE: REGISTERED NURSE FIRST ASSIST, TFTSTATUS: TEMPORARY FULL TIMEDEPARTMENT: SURGICAL SUITE ORHOURS OF WORK: 75 HOURS PER PAY PERIODPOSTING DATE: 1 May 2026CLOSING DATE: 31 May 2026UNION: ONTARIO NURSES' ASSOCIATIONWAGE RANGE: $47.74 to $66.62 per hourPOSITION OBJECTIVEActing in a leadership capacity the Registered Nurse-Surgical First Assists will support the Surgical Program through collaboration with the Site Chief of Surgery and the Clinical Manager to ensure the efficient utilization of resources within the department.Driven by a fundamental passion and commitment to patient centered care and inter-professional practice, the successful candidate will be responsible for collaboration with the surgeon and operating room team to provide intra-operative and post-operative care. This includes working to promote nursing excellence, quality patient centered care and high professional standards.The RNFA role supports the expansion of the surgical assistant rotations and improves patient safety and outcomes using a team-based model of care. The incumbent will perform all other relevant duties assigned to ensure the efficient operation of the unit to which she or he is assigned, such as supporting nursing recruitment and retention strategies by presenting new opportunities for career enhancement and skill development. The successful candidate will be a part of a regional program and assist with gaps in on call rotations.QUALIFICATIONSCurrent registration with the College of Nurses of OntarioMust possess a Registered Nurse First Assist CertificateOne (1) year related clinical experience in the past three (3) years in an operating roomCurrent BCLS and ACLS certificationPerioperative certification mandatoryDemonstrated knowledge and skill in physical assessment (Physical Assessment Course required)Controlled acts authorized to nursing for the operating room and/or delegated controlled actsDemonstrated proficiency in IV Therapy and Advanced IV TherapyDemonstrated knowledge of and skill with CVADs, Advanced CVADs,
