You thrive in an environment, which allows you to make a high impact towards the future of a First Nations Community.We are located 1 kilometer from Agassiz, BC on the beautiful Fraser River, 120 km east of Vancouver.BENEFITS & PERKSBenefits vary by job type, apply after a successful probationary period and are confirmed in the interview and hiring process.Extended health and dental benefits,Accrued vacation and sick time,Pension plan with matching employer contributions,Access to internal training programs, professional development and skill enhancement,Collaboration with an interdisciplinary team,Casual dress codeWHAT YOU'LL DOClient Support:Receive social assistance applications and ensure that all documentation is completed as per ISC policies and procedures manual, prior to application approval.Assess client's needs, capabilities and resources.Assist clients to identify available resources and alternative means of support.Assess client's eligibility for Special Needs Program, Children out of Parental Home COPH and food bank.Assist client with disability form as required.Adhere to ISC policies and procedures Manual for all client applications.Make referrals to other client services as required.Teach workshops on budgeting utilities, rent, food,



household needs etc.Maintain healthy professional boundaries with clients and promote client independenceIdentify gaps in services and bring the information to the attention of the DirectorWork in cooperation with employment team to develop programsWork as a team member of the Health and Social Development Dept.Administration – Client Records:Complete program forms promptly and professionallyMaintain professional and accurate client service records.Maintain an up to date filing system.Update Manager/Director on community needs and concernsAdministration – Programming:Submit monthly narrative report of activities to the Manager/Director, by the first Friday of each month for the previous month's activities.Consult with the Manager/Director on work plans and services.Submit monthly budget and development sheets to finance department.Prepare repayment agreements (RPAs) for clients and monitor and track RPAs monthly.Calculate, monitor and track all rent and utility payments.Attend scheduled team meetings with the ESD staff members and other meetings as requested by the manager.General:Follow within the guidelines and protocols of ISC regulations and policies that affect the delivery of the Social Assistance program.Advocate for Seabird Island Band Members' and Community members' rights and entitlementsBe familiar with and adhere to the Seabird Island Band Personnel policies and procedures.Other duties or responsibilities as assigned by your Supervisor, Manager, Director, or the ED.WHAT YOU BRINGEducationSocial Services Worker Diploma or backgroundMinimum of 3 years working in financial/social development field; Computer literacy in MS Office and other data management computer programs; Knowledge of basic budgeting and accounting principles; Valid BC Driver's License, Class 5 & clean Driver's AbstractSatisfactory Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector - CRRPPreferredExperience with the Indigenous community and Social Assistance programs ; Must have a strong understanding of finances, budgeting, event operation budgeting and proposal writing.Knowledge, respect,



and understanding of Stó: lō culture, history, traditions, and language is considered an assetExperience working with First Nations community is considered an assetSkills and abilitiesExcellent assessment, interviewing and counseling skillsAbility to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing; Ability to build strong relationship with clientsAbility to balance competing priorities and to work under pressureHighly flexible, and detail-oriented; High professional and ethical standards.Knowledge of First Nations family issues and ability to work with First Nations families; Good organizational, time management and prioritizing skills; Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, analytical and problem-solving skills.Ability to work with confidential and sensitive information.Familiarity with Occupational Health & Safety Act; understand and abide byapplicable fire regulations.Knowledge of the Stó:lō Nation culture, traditions, and languageProficient computer skills including Microsoft Office 365 Suite (Word, Excel, and Outlook.Excellent verbal and written communication skillsAbility to adhere to an Oath of Confidentiality agreement, Seabird Island Band Policies and ProceduresREPORTS TO: Executive Assistant to Director of Health & Social DevelopmentPRE-EMPLOYMENT SCREENINGEmployment is conditional upon completing pre-employment screening to ensure a safe and secure work environment in which staff, members, families, community, as well as resources, and assets are protected.
