This position will commence as soon as possible and is a one-year temporary assignment with the possibility of an extension.POSITION OVERVIEWThis position will direct and coordinate the day-to-day operations of four auxiliary enterprises that support the educational, social, and cultural aspects of Southridge School.DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIESUniform ShopAssist in creating and implementing a strategic vision for the school retail operations, including school uniforms and branded merchandiseSupport the day-to-day operations of the uniform shop by being available to process transactions and student fittings during store hoursManage inventory of stock, ensuring accuracy of inventory levels and costingSet up and administer retail management point of sale system and maintain the integrity of data, providing reporting to the Director of Finance and Business Operations as requiredSchedule, train, supervise and motivate parent volunteersBuild relationships with suppliers, negotiate best prices, and select productsWork with departments on special orders and athletic uniform purchases, arrange for samples and ensure quality and prices for gifts,



apparel and other materialsDevelop and implement uniform operating procedures and recommend appropriate related policiesPurchasingOversee the purchasing of major furniture purchases for the schoolBuild relationships with suppliers, negotiate best prices, select products and monitor qualityAssist with preparing requests for proposals where requiredManage the disposal of surplus goods and equipmentAssist in establishing and implementing purchasing strategies, policies, and proceduresWhere necessary, liaise with vendors and/or user departments to resolve issues regarding material and supply problems that occurInvestigate new opportunities for Southridge to achieve savings or efficienciesFood ServicesManage the relationship and assist in negotiating the cafeteria contract for the schoolOversee the food services operations to ensure that they are run effectively and efficientlyAct as the school liaison between the school's food services provider and school staff for school-catered eventsInvestigate and resolve complaintsEvaluate the operations of the student food services programEnsure health and safety regulations are followedAdminister the overall operation of the online ordering system, including menu and user updates, parent/student ordering, order processing and account funding,Provide input into the financial accounting system and provide operational and financial reportingHandle and resolve user issues with the online ordering and funding platformFacilities RentalsWork collaboratively with the Assistant Head of School and the Director of Finance and Business Operations regarding the use of school facilities by external organizationsPrepare and maintain facility rental agreementsUpdate the School calendar with facility rental bookingsWork with the Finance Assistant to ensure invoices are issued to vendors in a timely mannerSubmit requests for certificates of insurance and not-for-profit/charitable status documentation, as requiredOther DutiesProvide direction for the planning and promotion of business servicesOther duties as assignedEDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/KNOWLEDGEBachelor's degree or diploma in business administration/operations or equivalent education in a related fieldAccounting background preferredChartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation considered an asset.Five plus years of combined experience in retail, financial/business management and food servicesOne-year supervisory experience or managing volunteers in a retail environment or equivalentAbility to develop and nurture relationshipsAbility to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environmentProven ability to meet deadlines and perform under pressureStrong analytical skills with the ability to assess the performance of suppliers against an established criterionSuperior oral and written communication skillsAbility to manage multiple projects at a timeProactive and creative approach to solving problemsProficient in Microsoft Office and Google Suite productsExperience in effective risk management practices is considered an assetExperience working in an independent school setting is an assetThe salary range for this position is $80,000. to $90,000.
