With a global presence, we are proud to have offices in Canada, UK, Taiwan, Australia and Germany.The Product Development Engineer is responsible for planning and implementing the product/component selection or development activities resulting from requirements driven by the product roadmap, specific product requests from delivery projects and obsolescence mitigation activities.What You'll DoCreate new part information data and entry into the OSI databaseMaintain part information data for existing parts in the OSI databaseCheck components' approval, and certificationsProvide component technical support within the OSI organizationValidate that the component can either be manufactured or purchasedClassify the components as per the OSI classification schemeIdentify critical components to be monitored for EOL and PCN noticesAnalyze End of Life (EOL) and Product Change Notices (PCN) information, flagging obsolete parts,



writing CR/CN's when requiredRecommend risk buying for recent discontinuation or EOLIdentify new potential suppliers for componentsMake recommendations on parts to be made obsoleteMake recommendations for replacements of obsolete partsEnsure replacement component suitability by creating and reviewing where used reportsCompare component specifications and make recommendations for 2nd source qualificationNew component/product functional evaluation and testingApplies judgment and makes decisions to solve engineering issues related to products/components.Decision making authority within the confines of product development activities.Carries out authority as a reviewer on the revision and release of parts and documents in the PDX database.Timely, prudent judgment must be exercised to address unusual exceptions to the established procedures in order to prevent potentially unlimited contractual, legal and financial risks to the corporation.
