Reporting to the Specialty Manager, the Props Specialist will be responsible for:

• Designing, crafting, and/or replicating props (set/costume) according to the required technical and artistic specifications.
• Ensuring that production schedules for assigned projects are met and that budget allocations are adhered to;
• Researching materials and new methods that could improve projects or resolve technical issues;
• Sharing extensive knowledge of prop-making based on acquired expertise;
• Reporting to their supervisor on the technical and artistic possibilities and constraints regarding props;
• Participate in evaluating project production costs;
• Make the requested technical and artistic adjustments;
• Conduct fittings with the performers in collaboration with the various stakeholders;
• Gather the information needed to develop technical documents; draft and update procedures,
  
  
  
  ensuring their accuracy; produce and document prop samples;
• Conduct a self-assessment of the quality of ones work and have it validated by a resource person as needed;
• Provide operational and technical support to production teams and external partners to ensure the quality of deliverables, in collaboration with the support team;
• Participate in research and development activities as well as in the streamlining of props;
• Help create prototypes based on an idea, image, or sketch, taking into account the constraints of an artistic and acrobatic performance context;
• Attend team meetings and weekly gatherings;
• Participate in various projects in the costume workshop;
• Perform preventive maintenance on manufacturing equipment;
• Help develop your peers’ skills;
• Follow and enforce health and safety rules and keep your workspace and equipment safe;
• Perform all other related tasks.

The Ideal Candidate Has The Following

• A DEC in theater production or the equivalent;
• At least 5 years of experience in accessory manufacturing, in the entertainment industry, or equivalent;
• Knowledge of SAP, Gérico, ADN, and Cosmos. Experience with Optitex is a plus;
• Ability to work in 3 dimensions with dexterity and speed;
• Ability to perform repetitive tasks requiring precise, meticulous movements and potentially involving some physical effort;
• Ability to adapt to a constantly changing environment through openness and mastery of various techniques,
  
  
  
  and to work under tight deadlines;
• Ability to adapt to unforeseen circumstances and work as part of a team;
• Ability to work with certain hazardous substances, non-traditional materials, or tools;
• Independence, organizational skills, versatility, flexibility, and resourcefulness;
• Fluency in French and English, both spoken and written;
• Willingness to travel abroad as required by the assignment.
