The City of Mississauga is hiring an Active Transportation Assistant from January to April 2027 to enhance community access and mobility. This position focuses on collaborative transportation design.
As a student assistant, you will work with the Active Transportation team to develop safe walking, cycling, and rolling infrastructure. Eligibility includes being enrolled in a post-secondary program, where you will contribute to expanding the cycling network and improving sidewalks with a solid emphasis on safety. Your support will facilitate community engagement and promote inclusivity.
Key Responsibilities:
• Assist in the design of bicycle lanes and trails
• Develop public engagement strategies for transportation projects
• Analyze active transportation facilities for improvements




• Investigate signage and bike parking inventory needs
• Provide feedback to staff on transportation operations
Requirements:
• Must be enrolled in a relevant degree program or diploma
• Knowledge of best practices for cycling infrastructure
• Proficiency in MS Office and design software
• Ability to communicate effectively with the public
• Must travel to various locations using a personal vehicle
