Daily Hours: 5 hours a day, 5 days a week
Shift: Monday - Friday, 9:30 am - 3:30 pm

What do we need from you?

As a Child Care Kitchen Helper,



you will be responsiblefor supporting the Child Care Chef with the daily operations of the kitchen. Toclean, stock, maintain the kitchen as well as help with the preparation of mealingredients

What will you do?

- Ensuringa clean, sanitized environment, including washing, and drying all dishes,utensils, cooking equipment and cutting boards; mopping and sweeping thekitchen areas as required
- Maintaininventory and record of food, supplies and equipment
- Labeland date open packages in fridge & freezer practicing FIFO
- Prepare,season, and cook food as directed, meeting allergy and dietaryrequirements where required
- Beingmindful of proper portion size served to children
- Beinghands on in the prevention of choking hazards
- Followingthe Canada Food Guide to ensure nutritional needs are met
- Maintainingkitchen cleaning log
- Disinfectingpractices & products-know correct ppm
- Knowand practice proper hand washing procedures
- Garbagehandling

You will possess the following:

- Able to work independently in a kitchensetting
- Strong advocate of nutrition
- Demonstrate sound knowledge of properfood handling procedures
- Ability to prepare and cook large volumesfor up to 150 children daily
- Ability to handle food allergies and foodsubstitution
- Ability to wash, peel, cut, and slice ofingredients
- Ability to sweep and mop areas
- Team player, organized, flexible

Required qualifications to work at KeplerAcademy:

- Minimumof 1-year commercial cooking experience in a high-volume kitchen environment
- FoodSafety Certificate
- VulnerableSector Police Information Check issued within the past 6 months
- StandardFirst Aid certificate is considered as an asset
