Position Summary The Faculty of Social Work at the University of Regina invites applications for one Sessional Lecturer to teach the following online course during the Winter 2027 semester:

SW 451 – Social Work Research

This course focuses on the contributions of research to effective social work practice and social policy. Emphasis is placed on understanding and critical assessing social work research, and on how to employ a variety of quantitative, qualitative, and community-based research methodologies to advance social work knowledge and practice.

The semester is from January 6, 2027 to April 28, 2027 with the final exam period running from April 15, 2027 to April 28, 2027.

Expectations for Sessional Lecturers include, but aren’t limited to, the following:

- Preparing the course outline, designing relevant assignments, evaluating and grading student work, and submitting student grades by the required deadline.
- Teaching course content that follows the course description, established learning objectives, and university academic guidelines.
- Encouraging and maintaining a safe and collaborative classroom setting.
- Providing regular support to students on course work during office hours, and as required by students.
- Consulting with the Associate Dean (Undergraduate Programs)



on academic or student- related matters as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:

- Master of Social Work ( MSW )
- Demonstrated related experience appropriate to the course content description as listed above;
- Superior communications skills (both written and verbal);
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail;
- Recent teaching experience in a post-secondary environment is considered an asset.

Physical Demands

Pay Grade Faculty Sessional Salary Range As per URFA Collective Agreement

Status Term Work Hours This course is online (asynchronous) with no days/times.
