At SE, you meet your patients where they are, and together you take them to new heights!POSITION SUMMARY:The Recreation Therapy Aide is a key member of the care team who provides care for residents living in senior living facilities using a client and family-centred approach that incorporates the most current research into practice.POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:Include, but not limited to:Carries out established recreation and leisure programsWorks with the Recreational Therapist and residents to develop innovative recreation and leisure programsCoordinates opportunities for residents to be as fully involved and independently responsible as possibleAssists, encourages, and motivates residents to participate in programsAssists residents to, during, and from programs as necessary.Ensures residents' rights are maintainedEnsures recreation equipment and supplies are used, maintained, and stored in a safe, clean, and efficient manner. Reports unsafe or faulty equipment to the managerActively participates in continuous quality improvement programs, meetings, committees, and educational in-services as requiredPromotes and publicises programs and special eventsMaintains appropriate documentation as per policy and procedures, confidentiality,



and security.Encourages residents to be volunteers in their own communityInvolvement with welcoming the admission/orientation of new residentsMaintains a current knowledge of Administrative and emergency policies and procedures, and participates in fire evacuation drillsPerforms other related duties to ensure quality holistic resident serviceQUALIFICATIONS:Grade 12 DiplomaAt least 1 year of recent related experience (seniors living, group leadership, music, arts and crafts, and fitness)Demonstrated ability to initiate programs and organise recreational activities.Up-to-date immunisations.Current Standard First Aid and CPR Level CClear Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector CheckAbility to lift up to 25 kilograms, and frequent movement and bendingMust be free from any allergies or related conditions that may be aggravated by working with petsAbility to communicate and establish harmonious relationships with residents, families, volunteers, and visitors of the facility.Excellent written and oral English skillsAbility to work autonomously with minimal supervisionA vehicle and a valid driver's license are assets .About SE HealthSE Health is a not-for-profit social enterprise advancing health with heart.
