Overview

We are seeking a skilled, reliable 310T/310J Mechanic to join our maintenance team as an independent contractor for an afternoon shift. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in automotive repair, heavy equipment maintenance, and mechanical systems. This role involves diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining trailers and related equipment to ensure safety, reliability, and optimal performance.

Experience with dealership service, industrial equipment, and various power tools is highly valued.

The Trailer

Mechanic will play a crucial role in supporting our fleet operations and ensuring all trailers meet safety standards.

Duties

- Diagnose and repair trailer electrical systems, brakes, suspension, and structural components
- Perform routine maintenance including tire replacements, fluid checks, and lubrication
- Use hand tools, power tools, schematics, and diagnostic equipment to troubleshoot issues
- Operate heavy machinery such as forklifts, excavators, or cranes as needed for repairs or parts movement
- Conduct welding and fabrication work to repair or modify trailer frames and components
- Inspect trailers for safety compliance and document repairs performed
- Assist with the assembly of new trailers or parts as required
- Maintain a clean and organized work area to promote safety and efficiency
- Provide excellent customer service by communicating repair status and recommendations effectively





Requirements

- Proven mechanic experience with trailers or automotive repair preferred
- Dealership experience is a plus
- Knowledge of industrial equipment such as forklifts, excavators, cranes, or farm machinery
- Familiarity with Caterpillar equipment or HVAC systems is advantageous
- Ability to read schematics and technical manuals for troubleshooting complex systems
- Skilled in welding, electrical work, heavy lifting, and use of hand tools and power tools
- Experience operating heavy equipment or industrial machinery is desirable
- Robust mechanical knowledge across various systems including electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical components
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently
- Excellent problem-solving skills with attention to detail
- Customer service orientation with good communication skills
