Job Summary The North Bay Choral Society is a well-established community choir of more than 65 members, bringing together singers of diverse backgrounds and experience levels who share a passion for choral music. We are dedicated to fostering an inclusive, supportive, and collaborative environment where members can grow musically while enriching the cultural life of our community.

The choir rehearses weekly throughout the season and typically presents two major concerts each year—a Christmas concert and a spring concert. In addition, the choir participates in several community performances and special events throughout the season. Our accompanist plays an integral role in rehearsals, performances, and the artistic success of the choir, working closely with the Music Director to support and inspire our singers.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

- Proficiency in piano or keyboard performance with a solid understanding of musical theory and sight-reading. Someone with choir experience will be given first consideration Grade 8 plus
- Rehearsal Support: Accompany weekly rehearsals, including warm-ups, technical exercises, and repertoire drilling.
- Score Reading: Accompany from full choral scores,



with the ability to play specific vocal parts (Soprano, Alto, Tenor, Bass) individually or in combination to assist singers.
- Provide qualified accompaniments for all scheduled concerts and community events.
- Personal rehearsal time will be required.

Skills & Abilities

- Excellent communication skills to coordinate effectively with performers and director
- Proven teaching experience or the ability to provide musical guidance to performers of varying skill levels
- High level of focus during long rehearsal sessions.
- Punctual, reliable, and professional.
- Patient and encouraging when working with singers of varying skill levels.
- Exceptional writing skills for annotating sheet music, preparing practice notes, or correspondence
- Ability to adapt quickly to different musical styles and performance environments
- Enthusiasm for collaborative work and fostering a positive rehearsal atmosphere
