Powell is seeking an electrical engineering graduate or a CET for a customer-facing technical sales role supporting its Ontario business. Candidates with 1-3 years experience will be considered. The position combines design consultation, solution development and budget quotations with account growth and guided new business development across Powells manufactured products and integrated solutions, including e-houses and medium- and low-voltage switchgear.
Based in the Greater Toronto Area, the initial focus is approximately 75% supporting and expanding existing accounts and 25% developing new customers. You will engage directly with customers through email, phone, virtual meetings and in-person visits throughout Ontario.
Reporting directly to the Sales Manager for Ontario, you will work closely with your leader and receive mentorship in technical applications, sales, leadership and customer engagement. You will have sales targets, supported by joint account planning, customer visits and regular opportunity reviews.
The role also includes a bonus program, expense account, car allowance and cell phone allowance.
Essential Responsibilities
- Support and grow assigned Ontario accounts by understanding customer needs, maintaining regular contact and identifying additional project opportunities.
- Engage customers early in project development to provide design consultation, influence equipment selection and build preference for Powell solutions.
- Review customer specifications, single-line diagrams and layouts to clarify requirements and define the preliminary equipment scope. Develop conceptual drawings, preliminary equipment layouts and electrical distribution solution architectures with guidance and review from Powell- s technical teams.
- Prepare budgetary quotations and early-stage proposals, clearly identifying scope, assumptions, exclusions and preliminary delivery expectations.
- Coordinate formal RFP submissions with the dedicated estimating team, providing customer requirements and project context while supporting clarifications and follow-up.
- Develop new accounts through targeted outreach,
referrals and customer visits under the direction of the Ontario Sales Manager.
- Work closely with your leader to prioritize opportunities, plan customer activities and achieve agreed sales targets.
- Coordinate support from engineering, estimating and other internal teams to address customer questions and resolve concerns.
- Deliver customer presentations and participate in relevant industry events, supported by ongoing product and application training.
- Maintain accurate CRM records, opportunity forecasts, quotation status and follow-up actions. Perform other related duties as assigned

Qualifications Bachelor
- s degree in Electrical Engineering or CET is required.
- New graduates and candidates with approximately one to three years of relevant post-graduation experience are encouraged to apply.
- A foundation in electrical power systems, circuits and equipment applications; exposure to switchgear or power distribution projects is an asset.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage customers and present technical information clearly.
- Ability to read electrical drawings and specifications, or the technical foundation and willingness to develop this competency through training.
- Proficiency in Drafting/AutoCAD and Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word and PowerPoint, is required. Familiarity with CRM software is an asset. Exposure to applicable electrical codes and equipment standards, including CSA, ANSI/IEEE, NEC and IEC, is an asset.
Work Authorization: This is a permanent position. Applicants must be legally authorized to work in Canada at the time of hire. Immigration sponsorship is not typically available and will be considered only where supported by business needs and applicable legal requirements. Working Conditions
- The position may be based anywhere in the Greater Toronto Area and requires approximately 60% travel throughout Ontario, with approximately 40% in-house or office-based work. Temperature controlled working environment. Some outside activities may be required.
