Edmonton Flying Club is seeking an Aircraft Maintenance Engineer Apprentice to join our maintenance team.

This position is an excellent opportunity for an individual working toward their Transport Canada AME licence who wants practical experience in a busy general aviation and flight training environment.

Our maintenance department supports a high-utilization fleet of piston-powered training aircraft operating throughout the year. The successful candidate will work under the direction of the Person Responsible for Maintenance / Person Responsible for Maintenance Control (PRM / PRMC) and alongside licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineers.

Responsibilities The AME Apprentice will assist with and perform maintenance tasks appropriate to their level of training, experience, and authorization, including but not limited to:

- Assisting with scheduled and unscheduled aircraft maintenance.
- Performing inspections, servicing, repairs, component removal and installation, and troubleshooting under appropriate supervision.
- Assisting with the rectification of aircraft defects and operational snags.
- Performing maintenance on airframes, landing gear, flight controls, electrical systems, engines, and related aircraft systems.
- Assisting with maintenance and servicing of avarietyof piston engines.
- Cleaning, inspecting, measuring, and preparing aircraft parts and components for maintenance or installation.
- Assisting with aircraft inspections and maintenance in accordance with applicable maintenance schedules, manufacturer instructions, and Transport Canada requirements.
- Accurately completing work orders, task cards, technical records, and other maintenance documentation as required.
- Ensuring completed work is presented for inspection and certification by the appropriate licensed and authorized AME when required.
- Identifying required parts, materials, tools, or equipment and communicating requirements to the PRM / PRMC or supervising AME.
- Maintaining tools, equipment, parts, and work areas in a safe and organized condition.
- Following maintenance procedures, safety requirements, company policies, and direction provided by the PRM / PRMC and supervising AMEs.
- Assisting with hangar organization, aircraft movement, cleaning, servicing,



and other maintenance department duties as required.
- Supporting a solid safety culture and immediately reporting maintenance concerns, hazards, or defects.

Qualifications

Required:

- Currently enrolled in, or successfully completed, a recognized Aircraft Maintenance Engineer training program, or otherwise actively pursuing the experience requirements toward a Transport Canada AME licence.
- Strong interest in aircraft maintenance and general aviation.
- Basic knowledge of aircraft systems, maintenance practices, tools, and technical documentation.
- Willingness to learn and accept instruction from licensed AMEs and the PRM / PRMC.
- Robust attention to detail and commitment to safe work practices.
- Ability to follow maintenance procedures and accurately document completed work.
- Ability to work both independently when assigned appropriate tasks and collaboratively as part of the maintenance team.
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Valid driver's licence.
- Ability to safely perform the physical requirements of an aircraft maintenance position, including lifting, climbing, kneeling, bending, working around aircraft, and working in confined or awkward positions when required.

Assets The following experience would be considered an asset:
- Previous experience working in an aircraft maintenance environment.
- Experience with Lycoming piston engines.
- Previous employment, practicum, or work placement with a flight school, flying club, AMO, or general aviation maintenance operation.
- Familiarity with aircraft journey logs, technical records, work orders, and maintenance tracking systems.
- Previous mechanical, automotive, industrial, or technical experience.

Supervision and Certification The AME Apprentice works under the direction of the PRM / PRMC and licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineers.



The apprentice may perform maintenance tasks appropriate to their training and experience; however, maintenance requiring certification or a maintenance release must be inspected and certified by an appropriately licensed and authorized AME in accordance with applicable regulatory and company requirements.

Schedule

This is a full-time position within a seven-day-per-week flight operation.

Weekend availability is required, and the successful candidate should be prepared to work a schedule that includes weekends based on maintenance and operational requirements.

Reporting Relationship The Aircraft Maintenance Engineer Apprentice reports to the PRM / PRMC and performs maintenance duties under their direction and the supervision of appropriately licensed and authorized Aircraft Maintenance Engineers.
