Position Summary
Ontario Sheet Metal Fabrication is an established custom metal fabrication and manufacturing company with many years of industry experience. We are seeking an experienced Amada Press Brake Operator to join our production team. The successful candidate will be responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining Amada press brake machines while ensuring parts are formed accurately, efficiently, and according to customer specifications.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up and operate Amada press brake machines to bend and form sheet metal.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and work orders.
- Select and install appropriate punches and dies based on job requirements.
- Adjust machine settings, bend sequences, and programs to achieve specified dimensions and angles.
- Handle and position sheet metal safely and efficiently.
- Perform first-piece and in-process inspections to verify dimensions, bend angles, and tolerances.
- Monitor machine performance and make necessary adjustments.
- Conduct routine maintenance and keep machines and work areas clean and organized.
- Identify and troubleshoot minor setup and bending issues.
- Work with production supervisors and team members to meet production targets and deadlines.
- Follow all workplace health and safety procedures.
Qualifications
- Previous hands-on experience setting up and operating Amada press brake machines is required.
- Experience working in a sheet metal fabrication environment.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and blueprints.
- Knowledge of press brake tooling, bend sequences, and different sheet metal materials and thicknesses.
- Experience using measuring tools such as calipers, measuring tapes, and angle gauges.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Ability to safely handle materials and stand for extended periods.
- Good communication, teamwork, and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with CNC press brake programming and setup.
- Forklift or overhead crane experience is an asset.
- Experience working with custom parts and varied production runs.
