Position: ¾ time, contract basis

Arts4tots Preschool Program provides a safe, caring and creative preschool environment where early childhood development is nurtured through the arts.

Our Mission

To provide a protected and caring environment where early childhood development is creatively nurtured and encouraged through Dance, Drama, Music, Culinary Arts and Visual Arts.

We are seeking a creative, organized, energetic and caring Assistant Director to help lead the development and delivery of our arts-based preschool program. Working alongside the Arts4tots Director and Manager of Community Programs, this position supports curriculum, administration, families, volunteers, instructors and special events.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

- Assist with arts-based curriculum development, incorporating Dance, Drama, Music, Culinary Arts, Visual Arts and Recreation.
- Research early childhood development and help create age-appropriate learning activities
- Assist to develop monthly calendars, agendas, themes, activities and program plans, with activities planned at least two weeks in advance.
- Assist with recruiting and coordinating arts instructors and ensure a guest artist/community participant every two weeks.
- Assist with planning and delivering the Holiday Showcase and Year-End Graduation Celebration.




- Plan and coordinate field trips at least one month in advance.
- Maintain a clean, safe, organized, colourful and creative classroom environment.
- Support daily parent communication, newsletters, handouts, social media and updates.
- Assist with program evaluations in January/May and December/May as required.
- Assist with Arts4Tots social media, marketing, and community promotion throughout the Southeast region.
- Follow all SAC and Arts4Tots policies, budget, health and safety procedures
- Provide exceptional care and create a welcoming environment

QUALIFICATIONS & ASSETS

- Experience working with children in preschool, childcare, education, recreation or arts programming.
- Ability to maintain an energetic and enthusiastic attitude in the classroom, as well as being proactive and resourceful in creating a positive, engaging, and safe environment.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Experience coordinating volunteers, events or community programs is an asset.
- ECE training, First Aid/CPR, special-needs experience and social media skills are considered assets.

Expected hours: 27.0 per week
