Who you are

- Currently enrolled in a full-time, degree-seeking program with an expected graduation date of Winter 2027 or Spring 2028

- Strong CS fundamentals and deep understanding of best coding practices

- Solid communication skills and an ability to drive large projects forward in a quick-paced, sometimes ambiguous environment

- Passion and interest in financial technology and building fintech products and services

- Prior software development experience from internships, hackathons, or personal projects

- Familiarity with Python/Django or Go, and an understanding of relational databases and transactions

- As a Software Developer Intern, Backend, you won't be on the sidelines — you'll own a meaningful project end-to-end, from initial scoping through to production

- You'll be embedded on a real team, working directly with experienced developers, diving deep into how the US financial system actually operates, and shipping software that meets the correctness and scale requirements of a live financial platform

- Partner with a dedicated mentor who will guide you from onboarding through shipping, deepening your understanding of our tech stack and financial domain along the way

- Design, build, test, and release software solutions that meet the correctness and scalability requirements of a real financial platform

- Collaborate with cross-functional teams across Robinhood to solve critical problems that span the organization

- Maintain and scale an existing codebase using technologies such as Python/Django, Go, PostgreSQL, Kafka, Redis, Memcached, AWS, and Kubernetes
