Job Overview The Post-Majority Coordinator is responsible for the overall daily organization, direction, and operation of the Band Representative Services Unit that supports youth aging out of care and young adults formerly in care of majority up to and including the age of 25 which includes the following: the agency’s mandatory policies and procedures; assisting in the development of policies; developing and maintaining effective working relations with staff members and other community service providers; and other duties that may be assigned by the Band Representative Director.

Responsibilities and Duties The duties include and are not limited to:

- Navigate youth through the transition out of child welfare into adulthood.
- Develop Youth Service Agreement and goal setting with the youth.
- Develop a Youth Service Plan within first 30 days.
- Review Youth Plan every six months and adjust accordingly.
- Monitor youth’s progress to ensure goals are being met by communicating with the youth monthly.
- Support the youth to develop financial budget as needed.
- Collaborate with other childcare workers in supporting youth residing in room and board arrangements and independent living arrangements.
- Commitment to providing services in ways that respect Youth’s cultural and spiritual practices.
- Support the youth to connect to identify and access supports and resources including access health needs, assist with application of identification cards, housing supports, education resources, employment services and training, life skills training (e.g. financial management, household management), health and mental health services and legal services.
- Support youth to develop and maintain relationship with family, extended family, community, and First Nation.
- Ensure all data, forms, reports,



and documentation are accurate and submitted within timeframes as identified in Policies, Procedures Manuals
- Worker to notify Youth’s First Nation of involvement.
- Worker to act as Advocate to identify the supports and services from which they may benefit.
- Ability to work within the policies, standards, procedures and the vision, mission and core values of the Band Representatives program.

Qualifications

- Post-Secondary education in the field of Social Services.
- Ability to converse in Ojibway and/or Cree is an asset.
- Experience in administration with supervisory skills.
- Experience and knowledge in the child welfare field.
- Understanding of the collective culture of the Nishnawbe-Aski Nation and the traditional values of family and communities.
- Robust communication skills both verbal and written.
- Valid Drivers License
- Ability to travel extensively.
- Ability to pass a criminal records check and vulnerable sector search.

Work Conditions

Pay: $75,000.00-$80,000.00 per year
