We take pride in being recognized as a company deeply committed to a culture centered on safety, product quality, employee well-being, and making a positive impact on the communities we serve.Duties & ResponsibilitiesThe Environmental Health & Safety Coordinator is responsible for, but not limited to, the following:Assisting with the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of site-specific health and safety, industrial hygiene, environmental, security programs, policies, and procedures in compliance with regulatory and corporate requirementsProviding guidance and support to Managers and employees regarding H&S or environmental issuesIdentifying and evaluating H&S or environmental risks and ensuring proper risk reduction and control measures are implementedCoaching and mentoring management and employees on secure work practices and behavioursEnsuring effective H&S and environmental training is developed and completed according to the training planPerforming inspections, audits, drills and self-assessments to ensure and validate compliance with all regulatory and company requirementsMeasuring, monitoring and reporting site specific H&S and environmental related key performance indicators to management and corporate, as requiredEnsuring timely and effective completion of corrective and preventative action plansCoordinating the timely investigation of all H&S and environmental related incidents and ensuring proper escalation,



root cause analysis, and completion of suitable corrective actions including risk assessments, job hazard analyses, and site inspectionsCompleting workplace injury and illness claims (WCB/WSIB) and support all return-to-work and disability management processes.Completing Industrial Hygiene assessments and monitoring in accordance with the annual monitoring planValidating a fire safety program is in place and ensure proper functionality of sprinkler systems and alarmsUnder the guidance of management, acting as the primary contact for external H&S and environmental related regulatorsTracking and trending injuries, near miss events, safety observations and property damage incidentsStaying current on government regulations and emerging issues and trendsCompleting and submitting all required regulatory reportsEnsuring all environmental inspections and reviews are completed as scheduled and are properly documentedManages disposal of regulated and non-regulated waste to ensure complianceWorks with facility personnel to identify and implement sustainability projects to meet company objectivesKnowledge, Skills and AbilitiesPrevious experience with compliance/regulatory agenciesAbility to influence others and present recommendationsDemonstrated ability to be part of and work effectively with cross-functional teamsAbility to demonstrate a through and comprehensive understanding of relevant standardsCreative thinking skills with the ability to balance multiple projects and tasksPossesses basic knowledge of technical information regarding relevant H&S elementsFlexible in working during non-business hours to meet business needsPreferred SkillsDiploma in Occupational Health and Safety ProgramTrained in Transportation of Dangerous GoodsCertified as a Class II Wastewater Treatment Plant operator in Nova Scotia - preferredResponds to urgent or emergency situations outside or or during normal working hours, as neededWorks in general office and surface/underground production environmentWorks around powered equipment and location requiring access via stairs and/or ladders
