Job Overview

We are looking for an experienced, hospitality-focused Bar & Floor Manager to join our team at our brand-new full-service airport restaurant, opening soon in the secured departure lounge of Thunder Bay International Airport.

This is a full-time, hands-on management position requiring flexibility. As we operate within an airport environment, the successful candidate must be comfortable working a variety of shifts, including mornings, evenings, weekdays, weekends, holidays, and variable hours based on restaurant operations and flight schedules.

The Bar & Floor Manager will have a strong focus on bar operations, beverage service, guest experience, floor service, staff leadership, and day-to-day restaurant operations. This is a leadership role where you will be expected to lead from the floor, work behind the bar when needed, support the service team, and ensure every guest receives friendly, efficient, professional, and welcoming service.

You will work closely with the Operations Manager and Chef to coordinate daily operations, maintain service and product standards, support the team, and help ensure the restaurant operates smoothly and efficiently.

As part of the opening team, you will also have the opportunity to help establish the service standards, bar procedures, team culture, and operational systems of a brand-new restaurant from the ground up.

Duties

- Oversee the day-to-day restaurant and floor operations.




- Ensure guests receive friendly, knowledgeable, and qualified service.
- Lead from the floor and support servers, bartenders, and front-of-house staff during service.
- Oversee bar operations, beverage quality, presentation, and service standards.
- Ensure responsible alcohol service and compliance with liquor laws and company policies.
- Maintain bar inventory and work with the Operations Manager on beverage ordering and purchasing.
- Assist with inventory, waste management, and product controls.
- Lead bar staff training and assist with server training and ongoing coaching.
- Help develop and maintain seasonal beverage menus, recipes, and standards.
- Ensure bar equipment and service areas are properly maintained and report issues promptly.
- Handle guest complaints and difficult situations calmly and professionally.
- Work closely with the Operations Manager and Chef to ensure smooth daily operations.
- Adapt to the unique demands of an airport setting, including variable shifts, flight schedules, and changing guest volumes.

Qualifications

- Previous bartending and restaurant experience in a leadership role
- Strong knowledge of beverage and restaurant operations
- Experience supervising front-of-house staff
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- Hands-on management style
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to train and develop staff
- Experience with POS systems, cash handling, and basic inventory controls
- Ability to assist during busy periods, including serving, bartending, running food, clearing tables, and other front-of-house duties as required
- Ability to complete opening and closing duties

Requirements

- Must be able to obtain a Transport Canada RAIC (Restricted Area Identity Card)
- A valid Smart Serve certificate is required or must be obtained prior to the start date
