Position Summary

Qualifications

- Grade 12 or equivalent.

- Minimum three years experience in general maintenance in a commercial, retail, or industrial property.

- Computer Proficient.

Abilities and Skills:

- Hands-on and strong knowledge of general maintenance, building systems and operations, construction, life safety, and emergency procedures.

- Knowledge of Provincial Codes, CSA Codes and other legislated acts.

- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

- Good judgment and decision-making skills.

- Detail-oriented.

- Able to work independently with minimal direction and able to respond quickly to emergency situations

- Good time management skills and ability to prioritize work in order to deliver successful results within agreed upon time frames.

- Positive attitude and willingness to work overtime and respond to emergencies.

- Discreet and confidential in all Resident related matters.

- Valuable physical health to meet the position demands.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Performs various types of preventative maintenance and repairs to buildings, building systems, and equipment as scheduled and/or directed.

- Performs basic general repairs to plumbing, toilets, sinks, and taps.

- Conduct regular interior, exterior, and roof inspections of properties for damage and perform or arrange repairs.

- Conduct daily inspections on all site mechanical, electrical, and HVAC systems and related equipment and completes appropriate record logs in order to ensure equipment is maintained in good working order.

- Monitor building security system, fire alarm panel,



and sprinkler system regularly for proper operation and report any discrepancies.

- Respond to tenant concerns in a timely manner and assist in solving problems as required.

- Ensure service contracts are enforced, service levels are achieved, and contractors are adequately supervised when on site.

- Coordinate and supervise delivery of services to tenants.

- Moves material when received to stocking location.

- Replaces lamps, bulbs, and lenses in light fixtures as required.

- Replaces filters on HVAC systems, and cleans coils as directed.

- Replaces filters on water systems as directed.

- Responds to emergency calls during normal working hours and on-call 50% of weekends.

- Operates and maintains a variety of tools and equipment.

- Assists in completion of grounds work as required.

- Assists with Snow clearing.

- Maintains work and equipment areas in a clean, protected and orderly condition.

- Complies with The Personal Health Information Act to ensure confidentiality is maintained in all matters pertaining to the Facility, residents, families and staff.





- Participates in and demonstrates an understanding of Resident safety principles and practices in all daily activities and supports an environment which avoids, prevents, and corrects all activities or actions which may result in an adverse outcome in the delivery of Assisted Living care services.

- Obeys all safety and health rules and follows recommended Safe Work Procedures.

- Demonstrates a working knowledge of Workplace Hazardous Materials Information Systems (“WHMIS”) and adheres to procedures for handling and storing controlled substances as described in the Material Safety Data Sheets (“MSDS”).

- Maintains current knowledge of Disaster Plans and appropriate response to Emergency Codes.

- Ensure all health, safety, and security procedures are adhered to and areas of concerns are reported to the appropriate parties in a timely manner in order to limit exposure to liability and loss.

- Identifies and reports hazards in accordance with established guidelines.

- Follows established protected operating procedures and sanitation guidelines.

- Demonstrates ability to accept changes in routine/work assignments and maintain work flow.

- Meets attendance and punctuality guidelines and follows established policies if unable to report to work.

- Maintain shop and equipment inventory, request replacement inventory as required.

- Room booking and events set up.

- Complete any other duties as requested.
