Title: Business Analyst
Description & Responsibilities:
Provides a comprehensive range of I⁢ business analysis services for clients with diverse business and technological needs. Interacts with business stakeholders and subject matter experts to understand requirements through gathering, documenting, and analyzing business needs. Prepares and advises on business analysis policies, processes, best practices, and standards.
General Skills
- Leads and conducts business analysis to assess client problems/opportunities and documents business requirements for I⁢ solutions.
- Applies re-engineering concepts to promote business improvements through cost-effective service delivery approaches.
- Aligns analysis with OPS Unified Project Management Methodology, Enterprise Architecture, Gating Process, and Standard SDLC.
- Develops strategies, prepares business cases, cost-benefit analyses, and conducts feasibility studies for I⁢ initiatives.
- Develops processes for requirements gathering (JAD sessions, interviews, mockups, user stories).
- Conducts business modeling, use case modeling, data flow modeling, business rules definition, and non-functional requirements definitions.
- Develops performance measures, traceability matrices, and monitors project progress.
Desirable Skills
- Experience with information retrieval packages and Information Management principles.
- Ability to translate business and data requirements into technical specifications.
- Experience with methods, tools, and techniques for business analysis (functional modeling, process mapping, event modeling).
- Experience in structured, object-oriented, and Agile methodologies.
- Knowledge of Accessibility for Ontarians with Disability Act (AODA) and standards.
Experience and Skill Set Requirements:
- Business Analysis and Technical Skills (25% Evaluation Weight):
- Leads/facilitates workshops to elicit, review, document, and confirm business requirements,
process reengineering, business models, rules, and UI design.
- Knowledge of Agile/Scrum methodologies; breaks down complex requirements into user stories and manageable deliverables.
- Creates user stories, supports UX, functional, and technical designs within iterative cycles.
- Develops BA performance measures and follow-up assessments ensuring compliance with client clusters and I⁢ policies.
- Proficient in BA and PM tools (Azure DevOps, MS Visio, Figma, modeling tools).
- Familiarity with QA/UAT testing processes, change management, impact analysis, and training strategies.
- Experience developing context diagrams, use cases, use case models, process maps, stakeholder maps, and system diagrams.
- Experience writing complete business cases, cost-benefit analyses, ROI assessments, and feasibility studies.
- Oversees production support, configuration management, problem resolution, and RFP vendor evaluations.
- Experience (55% Evaluation Weight):
- Experience on medium to large-sized projects as a Business Analyst or Functional Consultant.
- Application of enterprise business architecture concepts aligning with OPS standards.
- Full lifecycle SDLC, software design, integration, database concepts, UI design, QA, risk management, disaster recovery, and business continuity.
- Technical leadership, functional analysis, service delivery management, and portfolio/program/project management.
- Deep knowledge of I⁢ cluster/corporate policies, directives, guidelines, procedures, and client business goals.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to evaluate trends, policies, and complex environments.
- Agile/Scrum hands-on experience: sprint planning, daily standups, backlog refinement.
- Experience managing change scope, stakeholder adoption, user-centered design, and budget estimations.
- Experience in risk identification, assessment, mitigation, and timeline/priority management.
- Communication and Interpersonal Skills (20% Evaluation Weight):
- Clear, concise, and comprehensive documentation (reports, reviews, assessments).
- Ability to present ideas clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- High-level customer service when interacting with internal/external stakeholders.
- Adaptability to changing requirements and dynamic environments.
- Solid cross-functional collaboration with developers, QA specialists, and business leads.
Must-Have Skills:
