Job Summary

- Functions as a member of the multidisciplinary team in providing basic nursing care to residents/patients within the standards, policies and procedures established by the nursing home.
- Assist with admission to the home.
- Accompany and assist residents to and from various areas.
- Serve and distribute meal trays, liquids and lunches
- Assist residents with meals as required.
- Answer call system.
- Clean and maintain bedside tables, dressers, and closets
- Bed, tub, sponge and ultra sonic baths.
- Measure and record intake and output.
- Pass, collect, clean and disinfect bedpans and urinals.
- Daily care routines including mouth care, back care, skin care, turning routine, perineal care, toileting routine and ambulation/exercise.
- Clean and disinfect tubs.
- Collect urine, stool and sputum specimens.
- Measure and record height and weight of residents.
- Removed soiled linen to soiled linen room.




- Physical assistance to residents in moving and getting positioned in bed, getting in and out of bed, transferring from bed to chair and back, walking, exercising, dressing, undressing and all activities of daily living.
- Record resident care activities.
- Take and record TPR and BP (if properly trained).
- Perform charting procedures as directed.

These duties are only the basic and prime duties of the job; related and allies duties will be assigned from time to time as may become necessary to the operation of the nursing home.

Qualifications

- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Plus additional course in Personal Support Worker or Health Care Aid course or equivalency
- Physically able to perform assigned duties
