You need (essential for the job)

Your application must clearly explain how you meet the following

✦ Graduation from a recognized post-secondary institution with a master’s degree in library science or in library and information science; or graduation from a recognized post-secondary institution with a bachelor’s degree in library science or in library and information science for which another bachelor’s degree was a prerequisite. . Experience* in providing bibliographic descriptions of published materials.

Experience in developing procedures or guidelines.

. Experience in managing an integrated library system. Applied / assessed at a later date :

. Knowledge of the theories, principles, trends or standards of library science and information management.

. Knowledge of the principles of cataloguing, classification, or resource description, like the application of recognized standards, tools, and classification systems (e.g. AACR2, RDA, MARC, Government of Canada Classification, Library of Congress Classification, Dewey Decimal Classification).

. Knowledge of subject analysis or indexing practices, like the application of controlled vocabularies, descriptors, standardized subject headings, and recognized thesauri, to accurately describe the subject content of publications. :

. Ability to communicate effectively orally.

. Ability to communicate effectively in writing.

✦ Experience or training in cataloguing of government documents.

✦ Experience working in a library context with Government of Canada publications

✦ Experience* with Microsoft Suite (including SharePoint, Excel, etc.).

✦ Experience* supervising staff, including day-to-day direction and performance management.

✦ Experience in providing recommendations to management** on library and information management issues. ❗Note:
