RAM Elevators & Lifts Inc. is seeking an experienced CWB Certified Welding Supervisor to oversee and coordinate welding activities within our manufacturing facility.

The Welding Supervisor will provide hands-on technical leadership to the welding team and ensure welding work is completed safely, efficiently and in accordance with applicable CWB requirements, CSA standards, approved welding procedures, engineering drawings and RAM quality standards.

This position is responsible for the day-to-day supervision of welding employees, welding quality, production coordination, welding procedures, employee training and maintaining required welding documentation.

Key Responsibilities

CWB Compliance & Welding Supervision

- Supervise welding activities and ensure work is performed in accordance with applicable CWB requirements.
- Ensure qualified welders are assigned to work within their approved qualifications.
- Monitor compliance with applicable welding procedures and standards.
- Maintain required CWB welding documentation and records.
- Support CWB audits, inspections and certification requirements.
- Identify and address welding-related non-conformances.

Welding Quality

- Monitor weld quality and workmanship throughout production.
- Inspect completed welds for defects and compliance with drawings and specifications.
- Identify welding defects and ensure appropriate corrective action is taken.
- Ensure welders follow approved welding procedures.
- Verify appropriate welding processes, equipment and consumables are being used.
- Reduce welding defects, rework and production errors.

Welding Procedures & Documentation

- Maintain applicable WPS/WPDS and welding procedure documentation.
- Ensure welders have access to the correct welding procedures.
- Ensure welding procedures are followed on the shop floor.
- Maintain welder qualification records.
- Keep required welding and CWB documentation current and organized.
- Assist with welding procedure qualification and testing when required.

Production Supervision

- Assign daily welding work based on production priorities and employee qualifications.
- Coordinate welding activities to meet production schedules.
- Monitor employee productivity and work quality.
- Identify production delays, material shortages and equipment issues.
- Communicate production concerns to the Operations Manager.
- Coordinate with fabrication, assembly and other departments as required.

Employee Leadership

- Provide daily direction and technical guidance to welding employees.




- Train and mentor welders and apprentices.
- Monitor workmanship, productivity and adherence to procedures.
- Provide coaching when quality or performance issues arise.
- Support employee development and skills improvement.
- Promote teamwork, accountability and professional conduct.

Equipment & Materials

- Ensure welding equipment is properly maintained and available for production.
- Report equipment problems and coordinate repairs when required.
- Ensure welding consumables are properly stored and handled.
- Monitor material and consumable requirements.
- Report shortages or equipment requirements to management.

Health & Safety

- Ensure employees follow RAM's health and safety policies and procedures.
- Promote safe welding, cutting, grinding and material-handling practices.
- Ensure required PPE is used.
- Identify and address workplace hazards.
- Participate in incident investigations and corrective actions when required.
- Support RAM's health and safety initiatives.

Required Qualifications

- Current CWB Welding Supervisor qualification applicable to the company's welding operations.
- Minimum 5 years of welding experience.
- Previous welding lead-hand or supervisory experience.
- Strong practical welding and fabrication experience.
- Knowledge of applicable CWB requirements.
- Knowledge of CSA W47.1 and CSA W59.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and welding symbols.
- Ability to understand and follow WPS/WPDS.
- Strong knowledge of welding quality requirements and common weld defects.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a manufacturing environment.

Preferred Qualifications

- Journeyperson Welder certification or equivalent.
- Experience working in a CWB-certified manufacturing environment.
- Experience with structural steel, sheet metal or industrial fabrication.
- Experience in elevator, lift or similar equipment manufacturing.
- Welding inspection or quality-control experience.
- Experience training apprentices or junior welders.
- Forklift or overhead crane certification.
- WHMIS, CSTS or First Aid certification.

The successful candidate's rate will be determined based on relevant welding/fabrication experience, supervisory experience, CWB qualifications and demonstrated ability to oversee welding operations. RAM offers a competitive compensation and benefits package.
