Responsibilities

- Plan and implement developmentally appropriate activities that promote learning through play and exploration
- Foster a safe, welcoming, and inclusive classroom environment that encourages children’s independence and confidence
- Communicate effectively with children, parents, colleagues, and specialists to support individual needs and developmental goals
- Monitor and assess each child's progress, maintaining detailed records of their development and milestones
- Collaborate with team members to develop individualized education plans for children with special needs or disabilities
- Ensure compliance with licensing regulations, health and safety standards, and organizational policies
- Utilize computer skills to maintain accurate documentation, prepare reports, and communicate with families through digital platforms

Requirements




- Valid certification as an Early Childhood Educator or equivalent credential from a recognized authority
- Complying with the Day Care Act regulations and school policies, and following the licensing regulations related to daycare in Nova-Scotia
- Proven experience working with young children in classroom settings or childcare environments
- Knowledge of child development principles, early childhood education practices, and special education strategies
- Strong communication skills to effectively engage with children, families, and team members
- Proficiency in computer operation, including basic computer skills for documentation and communication purposes
- Excellent organizational skills to manage classroom activities, schedules, and records efficiently
- Demonstrated leadership qualities with the ability to guide and motivate both children and colleagues
- Exceptional time management skills to balance multiple responsibilities in a dynamic setting
