Rate Target: $50-$70/hr (Dependent on experience)

Overview

Our client is expanding its digital innovation ecosystem through its Ventures , a high-impact engineering group focused on building scalable digital platforms that power customer and business experiences across all franchises.

We are seeking a Cloud Platform Engineer to join our Infrastructure-focused Platform Engineering team. In this role, you will work closely with senior platform engineers and cross-functional product development teams to design, automate, and operate cloud-native infrastructure, developer tooling, and declarative deployment pipelines across multiple upcoming digital initiatives over the next 6–12 months.

What You Will Do

- Cloud Architecture & Infrastructure: Design, provision, and maintain secure, highly available AWS cloud infrastructure using modular Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC).
- Kubernetes & Container Orchestration: Manage and scale production Amazon EKS clusters, containerized application workflows, and ingress configurations.
- Declarative GitOps & CI/CD: Implement and manage declarative deployment workflows and cluster state reconciliation using Helm , Flux , or ArgoCD alongside GitHub Actions .
- Platform Tooling & Automation: Develop custom platform automation, cloud API integrations, and developer enablement tooling using Python or Go .
- SRE & Observability: Apply Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) principles to monitor cluster health, latency, and availability using tools like Prometheus, Grafana, and Datadog .




- Technical Collaboration & Communication: Act as an embedded platform partner, translating technical requirements, presenting platform patterns clearly to dev teams, and facilitating smooth knowledge transfers.

Required Qualifications

- Location & Work Rights: Currently located in Canada (GTA / Toronto local strongly preferred) with valid, immediate Canadian work authorization.
- AWS Infrastructure Depth: 5+ years of operational cloud experience with deep, hands-on knowledge of AWS core services (VPCs, EKS, IAM, S3, RDS, EC2, CloudWatch).
- Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Advanced expertise with Terraform (building reusable modules, managing remote state, and handling complex drift/troubleshooting) and Ansible.
- Container Orchestration & GitOps: Hands-on experience operating production Kubernetes (EKS) clusters, packaging applications with Helm , and utilizing GitOps reconciliation patterns ( Flux or ArgoCD ).
- Programming / Scripting: Solid scripting and tooling development experience in Python or Go .
- Communication & Stakeholder Management: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a proven ability to explain complex platform concepts clearly to non-infrastructure teams.

Nice-to-Have Skills

- Experience with Internal Developer Platforms (IDPs) or developer portals (Backstage, Port.io).
- Familiarity with identity/IAM integrations (Azure AD / Entra ID, Microsoft Graph API).
- Hands-on usage of AI-assisted engineering workflow tools (GitHub Copilot, coding assistants, automated IaC tools).
