We are seeking a part-time cook to join our team at Birmingham Retirement Community. If you are a dedicated, compassionate individual looking to make a difference, this is the job for you!

Key Responsibilities

- Preparing food in accordance with the regular and therapeutic menu, in accordance with the standardized recipes for the home, and meets time requirements for meal times.
- Reviews menus before preparing meals and prepares and serves them properly and attractively.
- Assisting in serving meals following residents' diets using appropriate serving utensils and portion sizes to residents.
- Cleaning and maintaining the fridge/freezer, clean and maintain all equipment after use, and reports concerns. Ensures that all equipment is shut off as required and everything is locked at the end of the shift/when leaving the kitchen.
- Cleaning and maintaining work areas in a clean and sanitary state and ensures proper food handling techniques.




- Takes and records food temperatures and follows with corrective action if required.
- Ensures all food items are labelled and correctly stored and monitor and discards as per policy.
- Works in accordance with the organization's Health and Safety Policies and Procedures and in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
- Perform other duties as required.

Key Qualifications:
- One year experience in the food service industry preferred.
- Protected Food Handling Certification required. If you do not have it, you must be willing to obtain one.
- Experience in large quantity food preparations and cooking in health or long-term care is preferred.
- Proven customer service skills
- Ability to work independently and/or as a member of a team.
- Able to operate industrial kitchen equipment.

Job Type: Part-time Pay: From $18.46 per hour
