The work is physical, varied, and often challenging—but for the right person, it is also rewarding and offers the opportunity to develop a broad range of marine construction skills.

Your Role at Kehoe

This is hands-on work where your effort becomes something lasting—from a custom dock to a protected shoreline. Working on waterfront job sites and aboard barges and boats, you will help carry out the physical, day-to-day work that brings our projects to life.

Under the direction of a Foreman or Lead Hand, you will load and unload materials, prepare work areas, handle tools, assist with installations, and support cutting, grinding, fitting, and other construction tasks. The work changes with each project, but the expectation stays the same: come prepared, work safely, and do your part to keep the crew moving.

Looking after the job site, tools, and equipment is part of that commitment. Whether you are organizing materials, greasing equipment, cleaning up, or reporting a problem, these everyday tasks help the whole crew work safely and efficiently.

You do not need to know every part of marine construction on day one. Bring relevant field experience, a strong work ethic, mechanical aptitude, and a willingness to learn. We are looking for someone who pitches in, takes responsibility for their work, and follows through.

This Role May Not Be the Best Fit If You:

- Prefer predictable indoor work in a controlled setting.
- Are uncomfortable working around water, boats, barges, or heavy equipment.
- Do not enjoy physically demanding work, changing weather, or early mornings.
- Find it difficult to follow established safety procedures or use required PPE.
- Are unwilling to travel or stay overnight for occasional out-of-town projects.
- Do not enjoy maintaining, cleaning, greasing, or caring for tools and equipment.

The Ideal Previous Experience We are looking for someone with:

- Three (3) or more years of experience as a Deckhand or Labourer preferred, or equivalent experience in marine work, construction, or a related field environment.
- Experience using construction tools and safely handling materials.
- Welding, fabrication, cutting, grinding, rigging, or heavy equipment operating experience considered an asset.




- A Small Vessel Operator Proficiency (SVOP) certificate, or willingness to obtain one.
- Marine Emergency Duties (MED) A3 certification.
- Working at Heights and Mobile Elevated Work Platform training, or willingness to obtain them.
- Completion of secondary school preferred.
- A valid Class G driver’s licence with a clean driving record.
- A Class A Restricted driver’s licence, or willingness and ability to obtain one.
- Access to a cell phone with data for time tracking and work-related communications.

Working Conditions This role primarily involves outdoor work on waterfront job sites and aboard boats, barges, and tugs. You will work in changing conditions, including summer heat, rain, wind, cold temperatures, and ice.

The work involves lifting and carrying materials weighing up to 50 lbs, bending, climbing, and repetitive movements. Job sites may involve loud equipment, diesel fumes, and water hazards, requiring appropriate PPE and consistent safe work practices.

Occasional travel and overnight stays may be required, depending on project location.
