South Shore Waldorf School Pre-Kindergarten Lead Teacher 2026/2027Start date: August 2026The South Shore Waldorf School is seeking an Early Childhood Pre‐Kindergarten teacher for a new ECE program we are launching for six 3‐year‐olds. Nova Scotia ECE Level 2 or above is required.The ideal candidate has familiarity and experience with Waldorf education.We are looking for someone who is hard‐working, has a positive attitude, excellent communication skills, and possesses storytelling and singing skills. The perfect candidate works with purpose and enthusiasm and is looking to grow with our school and community.SALARY AND BENEFITSThis is a 1‐year contract with the possibility of renewal the following school year. All new employees are subject to a 3‐month probationary period. Salary is $35,000–$40,000 depending on qualifications and years of experience, and is in the range of other Waldorf Schools in provinces that receive no government support. Our school is pursuing ECE Licensing and, once achieved, the salary would be in line with provincial Early Childhood Educators.RESPONSIBILITIESWorking with children ages 21⁄2‐4 as the Pre‐Kindergarten Class TeacherThe classroom work day is from 8:00 am – 3:15 pm Monday‐FridayCare for the physical and emotional well being of the children and their families, including diapering and toiletingFoster positive relationships with colleagues, children, and familiesBe aware of the creative play of children, and redirect and inspire them as necessaryParticipate in domestic activities joyously, including: planning and cooking meals daily for the kindergarten children; care for the physical setting both inside and outside, such as maintaining a beautiful classroom that is clean and orderly; helping with the gardensTeaching by exampleEnjoy and interact with the outdoors in all weather conditionsMaintain needed paperwork,



including taking classroom daily attendanceBe able to comfortably lift and carry a 35‐40 lb child when necessaryAttend and participate in the Festival life of the schoolPlan for and hold Parent/Teacher meetingsShop for groceries and purchase suppliesAttend weekly faculty meetings every Thursday from 3:30 – 5:30 pmAttend PD days and Teacher ConferencesKnow and implement discipline policy as set in the School HandbookBe committed to ongoing professional developmentSupervise practicums for other ECE teachers at the schoolOUR SCHOOLThe South Shore Waldorf School is found in Blockhouse, set on the South Shore of Nova Scotia, Canada, close to the UNESCO World Heritage Town of Lunenburg, the charming small town of Mahone Bay, and about an hour south of the city of Halifax.
