Job Title

Our Design & Engineering team is looking for an experienced Manager to oversee all design-related activity for our floor, wall and roof truss product offerings in the Greater Toronto Area market.

In this role, you will manage the team that estimates and designs floor systems, walls and roof trusses based on customer-provided house plans. You will ensure that designs are Building Code-compliant and value engineered to be cost-effective. You will make sure that product is quoted and designed to meet KOTT’s ‘on time, in full’ customer promise.

The wage range for this position is $75,000 - $95,000 per annum.

Your day-to-day responsibilities

· Set targets and work expectations for Designers, and manage their day-to-day priorities and workflow

· Be accountable for Design team output, and ensure project design completion dates are met

· Ensure designs comply with Codes & Regulations, Sales requests, customer plans and Scopes of Work

· Review and understand all project design requirements and customer-provided documents including architectural plans, structural plans, Scopes of Work, and tender documents

· Work closely with Designers and the Design Admin, as well as the Sales team, and communicate directly with customers as required

· Coordinate workflow between the Design team and Consultant Engineers

· Coordinate any outsourced design activity

· Manage Design and Estimating Site issues, and ensure they are resolved in a timely and professional manner

· Perform department administrative duties, and other tasks as requested by the Design Director

What you need to succeed

· Minimum 10 years’ Truss and EWP Design experience, preferably using MiTek Software

· Minimum 3 years’ experience managing a team of 5 or more people





· A Civil Engineering Technologist or Architectural Technologist Diploma is preferred, but equivalent work experience will be considered

· Strong general computer skills required, including experience with MS Office and Excel

· Experience with Bistrack or equivalent Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software is preferred.

· Experience with Palantir’s Foundry is a robust asset.

· Ability to multi-task, prioritize and manage effectively

· Proven ability to read and interpret all aspects of Architectural and Structural drawings

· Proven ability to interpret contract documents including scopes of work, addendums, lot releases, customer selections etc.

· Ability to interpret Building Codes

· Strong understanding of residential and commercial construction practices

· Effective verbal and written communication skills
