Direct Support Worker – Part-Time

Waverley West, South Winnipeg | $22/hour | 14 hours/week

We are looking for a kind, patient, and dependable Direct Support Worker to spend time with and provide support to our 21-year-old daughter, who lives with physical and intellectual disabilities and uses a wheelchair.

She is friendly and social and enjoys crafts, playing games (Uno is a favourite!), learning, and getting out into the community. We are hoping to find someone who will not only assist with her daily needs, but will also genuinely enjoy spending time with her and helping her have an active and fulfilling day.

Regular Hours

· Mondays: 7:30 a.m.–12:30 p.m.

· Tuesdays: 7:30 a.m.–12:30 p.m.

· Thursdays: 7:30 a.m.–11:30 a.m.

· 14 regular hours per week

· Starting wage: $22/hour

Additional hours may also be available, including evenings, weekends, and occasional overnight support, if desired.

What You'll Be Doing

· Assisting with personal care and morning routines

· Helping with a morning shower on two of the three scheduled days

· Assisting with wheelchair-related needs and daily activities

· Helping with schoolwork and learning activities at approximately a Grade 3 level

· Doing crafts, playing games, and finding fun activities to do together

· Accompanying her on outings and activities in the community

· Driving our wheelchair-accessible van for outings

Who We're Looking For The most important qualification is having a compassionate heart for people with disabilities. We are looking for someone who is patient, kind, reliable,



and comfortable providing personal care.

Previous experience as a Direct Support Worker or working with people with disabilities is preferred, but not required. We are happy to consider someone who is a outstanding fit personally and willing to learn.

· A valid driver's licence is required.

· The successful candidate will be required to provide a satisfactory Criminal Record Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check.

We are looking for someone who will see our daughter as a young adult first—someone with her own personality, interests, preferences, and sense of humour—and who will help her be as active and independent as possible.
