Dynamics 365 Project Operations Analyst

Overview An established, employee-focused professional services organization is seeking an experienced Dynamics 365 Project Operations Analyst to support and optimize its enterprise resource planning environment.

This role is responsible for ensuring Microsoft Dynamics 365 Project Operations effectively supports project delivery, resource planning, project accounting, time and expense management, billing processes, and associated business operations within a mature post-implementation environment.

This position offers flexibility and can be based remotely or from several office locations across Canada - Edmonton, Calgary, Vancouver, Saskatoon, Markham

What You'll Do

Key Responsibilities

- Serve as a subject matter expert for Microsoft Dynamics 365 Project Operations and related business processes.
- Analyze business requirements and translate them into scalable and sustainable system solutions.
- Support project-centric operations including:
- Project management
- Resource management
- Time and expense tracking
- Forecasting
- Project accounting
- Billing and revenue recognition
- Develop and maintain Functional Design Documents (FDDs), configuration specifications, and process documentation.
- Provide guidance to stakeholders regarding system capabilities, limitations, and best practices.
- Troubleshoot and resolve application and process-related issues.
- Reproduce and validate defects in testing and sandbox environments.
- Perform approved configuration updates and data corrections.
- Participate in incident management, problem resolution, and root-cause analysis activities.
- Maintain Project Operations configurations, workflows, business rules, and system parameters.




- Evaluate the impact of changes across Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations, Project Operations, Customer Engagement, integrations, and reporting solutions.
- Support user acceptance testing (UAT), regression testing, deployment activities, and Microsoft platform updates.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and operational efficiency.

Required Qualifications

- Degree or diploma in Business, Information Systems, Finance, Project Management, or a related field.
- Microsoft Dynamics 365 certifications are considered an asset.
- 5+ years of Microsoft Dynamics 365 experience, including hands-on expertise with Dynamics 365 Project Operations.
- Strong understanding of:
- Project management processes
- Resource planning and allocation
- Project accounting
- Financial forecasting
- Billing and revenue management
- Experience conducting business process analysis, fit-gap assessments, process redesign, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Proven experience creating and supporting Functional Design Documents (FDDs), system configurations, testing activities, and solution alignment efforts.
- Experience working in a post-implementation support environment, including:
- Level 2 application support
- Release management support
- User Acceptance Testing (UAT)
- Regression testing
- Business-as-usual operational support
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving capabilities.




- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively with stakeholders across business and technical teams.
- Proven ability to convert business requirements into practical technology solutions.
