Position Summary

As a member of the Complex Behaviour Support Team within Specialized Learning Supports, the Educational Psychology Consultant supports students through classroom modelling and coaching, individual and group intervention, complex case consultation, and skilled learning for Division staff.

The Educational Psychology

Consultant applies psychological and educational lenses to help educators understand how diagnoses, mental health, and contextual factors may influence student regulation, learning, and participation across inclusive and specialized settings.

Job Duties/Responsibilities

- Conduct classroom observations and provide regular direct collaboration, active classroom participation, and hands-on coaching and modelling to assist educators in implementing strategies across specialized programs and inclusive environments, including Connections classrooms.
- Partners with educators to identify, develop, and implement Individualized Program Plans (IPPs),



Individual Behaviour Support Plans (IBSPs), and educational programming aligned with students' psychological, cognitive, and social-emotional profiles.
- Apply psychological and educational lenses to support school teams in addressing psychological, mental health, and educational factors that influence student regulation, emotional well-being, and learning.
- Provide individual and small group clinical interventions to address identified student needs and promote regulation, social-emotional development, relationships, and participation in the school environment.
- Collaborate with students, educators, families, and transdisciplinary team members to develop and implement individualized clinical and educational supports.
- Facilitate complex case consultations, transdisciplinary post-incident debriefs, and restorative processes grounded in a trauma-informed, neuroaffirming framework to promote emotional safety, relationship repair, and collaborative team recovery following periods of distress or crisis.
- Design and facilitate professional learning and mentor colleagues to deepen Division-wide understanding of complex student needs and classroom complexity. Coordinate service delivery, maintain accurate caseload records and documentation, and provide crisis intervention, stabilization, and debriefing support to students and staff following critical incidents.

Education/Qualifications





- Master's degree of Counselling in Counselling Psychology or Master's degree of Education in Counselling Psychology
- Active registration, able to practice independently, and in good standing with the College of Alberta Psychologists
- Minimum of three years related experience supporting school-aged students in Grades 1–12 with complex mental health, social, emotional, and behavioural regulation needs.
- Knowledge and applied practice of trauma-informed, neuroaffirming, and strength-based approaches within educational environments.
- Demonstrated experience providing clinical and educational consultation, active coaching, and modelling to educators in inclusive and specialized classroom settings. Experience working in a transdisciplinary team providing individual and group clinical mental health supports, facilitating complex case conferences, and contributing to placement, safety, and transition planning.

Rate of Pay $54.10 - $69.19 per hour
