: Ontario Certified Teacher (OCT) – English Instructor

Position Overview

We are seeking a dynamic, dedicated, and experienced Ontario Certified Teacher (OCT) specializing in English to join our academic instruction team in North Oshawa. In this role, you will deliver high-quality English curriculum instruction, foster a positive and engaging learning environment, and manage classroom dynamics effectively for elementary or secondary students.

The ideal candidate possesses strong classroom management skills, a deep understanding of the Ontario curriculum guidelines, and a genuine passion for cultivating student literacy and academic success. Local candidates residing in Oshawa or the surrounding Durham Region are strongly preferred.

Key Responsibilities

- Instruction & Curriculum Delivery: Plan and deliver engaging, structured English Language Arts/literacy lessons aligned with Ontario Ministry of Education curriculum standards.
- Classroom & Student Management: Maintain a disciplined, inclusive, and inspiring learning environment,



successfully managing diverse classrooms and encouraging active student participation.
- Progress Assessment: Evaluate student assignments, quizzes, and reading/writing progress; provide constructive, timely feedback to students and parents.
- Parent Communication: Maintain professional, proactive communication with parents regarding student performance, developmental milestones, and classroom behavior.
- Educational Support: Adapt teaching methodologies to support diverse learning styles and developmental levels among students.

Qualifications & Requirements

- Certification: Valid Ontario Certified Teacher (OCT) designation in good standing with the Ontario College of Teachers.
- Experience: Proven prior experience managing classrooms, designing lesson plans, and teaching English/Literacy to school-aged students.
- Location: Residing in Oshawa or within close commuting distance to the North Oshawa area.

- Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
- A student-centric approach with patience, adaptability, and enthusiasm for education.

Pay: From $19.00 per hour
