Your Opportunity

The Equipment Operator, Turf & Snow Maintenance supports the safe and efficient operation of our parks and recreation facilities. In this hands-on role, you will perform a variety of turf, grounds, and snow maintenance activities, operate a range of equipment and vehicles, and contribute to creating a safe, welcoming, and enjoyable experience for visitors throughout the year.

- Operate a variety of turf maintenance, landscaping, and snow removal equipment, including mowers, tractors, Ventracs, skid steers, plow trucks, and trailers.
- Perform turf and landscape maintenance activities such as mowing, seeding, planting, watering, mulching, and weed control.
- Maintain roads, parking lots, pathways, and other public areas during winter conditions through snow removal and salting/sanding operations.
- Support snowmaking operations by maintaining snowmaking infrastructure.
- Conduct daily vehicle and equipment inspections, maintain maintenance logs, and report mechanical or safety concerns.
- Complete general park maintenance and operational support tasks, including site cleanup, waste handling, and equipment care.
- Assist with the setup, operation, and takedown of seasonal programs, events, and recreational activities.
- Provide exceptional customer service by responding to visitor inquiries and promoting a safe park environment.
- Follow all health and safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements while promoting safe work practices.

Your Qualifications

- Minimum 1 to 3 years of experience operating and maintaining landscaping, grounds maintenance, or heavy equipment.
- Demonstrated ability to safely operate landscaping, maintenance, and snow removal equipment and vehicles.
- Knowledge of trailer operation and loading procedures, including experience operating CVOR-regulated vehicles and trailers.




- Ability to perform basic equipment inspections, troubleshooting, and preventative maintenance activities.
- Strong customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with visitors, contractors, and colleagues.
- Proven ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and make sound decisions in a fast-paced outdoor environment.
- Ability to work outdoors year-round and perform physically demanding work, including lifting up to 40 lbs, standing, walking, bending, climbing, and working in varying weather conditions.
- Demonstrated flexibility, adaptability, and commitment to maintaining a safe and welcoming environment for staff and visitors.
- Working knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA), WHMIS, and protected work practices.
- Education, training, or certification in horticulture, landscaping, construction, equipment operation, or a related field is an asset
- Experience with hand tools, grounds maintenance equipment, and basic computer applications such as Microsoft Office are an asset
- A valid Ontario Drivers Licence, minimum Class “G ”, with a satisfactory Driver’s Abstract is required. *Abstract completed by Conservation Halton.
- Successful candidates must provide own CSA approved safety footwear prior to first day of employment *Partial reimbursement provided in accordance with the Safety Workwear policy.
