RareBuilt Homes Ltd. is an award-winning Calgary based custom home builder. RareBuilt received the 2025 BILD Calgary Region Multi-Family Small Volume Builder of the Year. RareBuilt has been building custom homes in the Calgary area for nearly two decades. We have expanded our reach from single family custom homes into land development and high-end multi-family projects. As a result of some key land acquisitions and future development projects, we’re growing our team in all departments and looking to add some key people to our Planning & Estimating team.
We are seeking an experienced Estimator to prepare bids and create budgets for our custom homes, both single-family and multi-family projects. The ideal candidate will be responsible for estimating costs, coordinating all facets of engineering, permitting and project administration required for custom home builds to prepare them for the construction phase. This role will require an individual with attention to detail to compile accurate budgets and assist the RareBuilt Operations team with monitoring budget performance.
The candidate for this role will act as a liaison between pre-construction and construction phases
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
· Reporting to the Planning & Estimation Manager.
· Issue bid packages and RFQs (Requests for Quotations) to subcontractors and suppliers.
· Compile estimates of construction materials, labor, equipment costs using historical data, supplier quotes, and software tools for multi-family and single-family custom homes.
· Analyze subcontractor and supplier bids for completeness and accuracy.
· Manage and submit building and development permit applications to local jurisdictions.
· Track permit statuses and ensure all required documentation is filed in a timely manner.
· Track and coordinate with architects, engineers, and designers to ensure plans meet regulatory and company standards until handoff to construction.
· Develop and manage comprehensive budgets for multiple units and phases of construction.
· Ensure budget alignment with client expectations and project scope.
· Prepare and maintain detailed records of estimates and contracts.
· Oversee and prepare planning change orders
· Order pre-construction professional services and long lead materials required for construction
· Support handoff of planning documents and estimates to field teams during project launch working closely with our construction and design departments.
· Attend client meetings through the preliminary architectural design stages to gain information to write project specifications and prepare pricing presentations along side our sales and planning teams
· Oversee specification updates for multi-family and single-family developments
· Complete internal architectural plan reviews
· Maintain supplier and vendor status in construction software
· Deploy new projects in accounting and construction software
· Update pricing guide for multi-family projects
REQUIRED SKILLS
· Minimum 5+ years experience in estimating single-family, multi-family residential construction and renovations.
· Broad understanding of single-family custom homes, estate homes, residential construction and multi-family construction methods is required
· Industry knowledge of construction vendors, suppliers, trades and design trends
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills
· Proficiency with MS Office Suite
· Estimating software: Buildertrend. Knowledge of Builder Trend (or other builder software) experience an asset.
· Knowledge of Acumatica (or other accounting software) an asset.

· $85,000-$95,000/year Salary
