GENERAL LABOURER – SNOW SHOVELING

Job Type: Part-Time, Seasonal Contract

Work Arrangement: On-Site / Field-Based

Contract Term: October 2026 – March 31, 2027

Hourly Rate: $18-$23 per hour, based on experience and qualifications

This is a fixed-term seasonal contract running from October 2026 to March 31, 2027, with the possibility of continuing beyond the season depending on operational needs and available opportunities.

JOIN THE HARLOW GROUP The Harlow Group provides residential and commercial snow and ice management services throughout Dunrobin, Constance Bay, Fitzroy Harbour, and surrounding areas.

We're looking for reliable, hardworking General Labourers to join our Operations team for the upcoming winter season. Previous snow removal or landscaping experience is preferred, but not required. We are willing to train the right candidate who is dependable, willing to work outdoors, and able to work independently.

As a General Labourer, you'll help clear snow and ice from customer properties, assist Equipment Operators, and help ensure walkways, entrances, and other areas are safe and accessible during winter weather events.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

- Shovel and clear snow from walkways, entrances, stairs, pathways, and other designated areas.
- Apply salt, sand, and other ice-control materials as required.
- Assist Equipment Operators with snow removal operations and property access.
- Clear snow around doors, vehicles, equipment, and other areas that larger equipment cannot reach.
- Complete assigned properties safely, efficiently, and according to established service standards.
- Follow instructions from Dispatch and Operations management.
- Report completed work, property concerns, hazards, or service issues promptly.
- Use and maintain shovels, snow blowers, spreaders, and other equipment as assigned.




- Keep tools and equipment clean, secure, and in good working condition.
- Work cooperatively with other members of the Operations team.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

- Reliable and dependable, with the ability to work independently.
- Strong work ethic and willingness to work outdoors in winter conditions.
- Ability to follow instructions and complete assigned work with minimal supervision.
- Good awareness of surroundings and commitment to working safely.
- Willingness to learn and follow training, operating procedures, and safety requirements.
- Ability to work extended shifts, evenings, weekends, and holidays when required during snow events.
- Valid Ontario driver's licence is an asset.

EXPERIENCE & ASSETS

- Previous snow removal, landscaping, construction, property maintenance, or general labour experience is preferred but not mandatory.
- Experience using snow shovels, snow blowers, spreaders, or other outdoor equipment is an asset.
- Previous experience working outdoors in physically demanding conditions is an asset.

WORKING CONDITIONS

- Part time, field-based position working primarily outdoors.
- Hours vary based on snowfall, weather conditions, and operational requirements.
- Work may include overnight shifts, early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Extended shifts may be required during significant snow events.
- Work takes place in cold, snowy, windy,



and potentially low-visibility conditions.
- Work involves travelling between multiple customer properties during a shift.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

- Ability to shovel and move snow for extended periods.
- Ability to walk on uneven, icy, and snow-covered surfaces.
- Ability to repeatedly bend, lift, carry, push, and pull while performing snow removal tasks.
- Ability to lift and carry shovels, snow-removal equipment, and materials as required.
- Ability to work outdoors for extended periods in winter conditions.
