Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled and dependable Heavy-Duty Mechanic to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining, diagnosing, repairing, and servicing heavy equipment and mobile machinery used in our operations.

The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical knowledge, excellent troubleshooting skills, and a commitment to maintaining protected and reliable equipment. Experience working in a scrap metal, industrial, or heavy-equipment environment is considered an asset.

Key Responsibilities

- Diagnose, repair, and maintain heavy-duty mobile equipment and industrial machinery.
- Perform preventative maintenance, inspections, and scheduled servicing.
- Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and pneumatic systems.
- Repair and maintain equipment such as loaders, material handlers, shredders, cranes, forklifts, and other heavy equipment.
- Respond to equipment breakdowns and complete repairs in a timely manner to minimize operational downtime.
- Conduct pre-use and post-repair inspections and ensure equipment is safe to operate.
- Identify potential mechanical issues before they result in equipment failure.
- Maintain accurate records of repairs, inspections, parts used,



and maintenance activities.
- Communicate equipment issues and repair requirements to supervisors and operations personnel.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and protected work area.
- Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and applicable regulations.
- Work collaboratively with operators, supervisors, and other maintenance personnel to keep equipment operating efficiently

The Candidate

- Minimum 3 years of experience as a Heavy-Duty Mechanic or in a similar role.
- Strong mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical troubleshooting skills.
- Experience servicing and repairing heavy equipment.
- Experience with loaders, material handlers, shredders, cranes, forklifts, or similar equipment is highly desirable.
- Ability to diagnose problems and complete repairs independently.
- Welding and fabrication experience is an asset.
- Ability to read and understand service manuals, schematics, and technical documentation.
- Robust attention to detail and commitment to workplace safety.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Technician certification or equivalent experience is required.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent Pay: $41.00-$48.00 per hour
