D.B.I. Dry-Blast Inc. is seeking experienced Heavy Equipment Technicians / Heavy-Duty Equipment Mechanics to join our Edmonton operation.

DBI operates in the heavy-haul and specialized transportation industry, utilizing heavy commercial trucks, trailers, specialized transportation equipment and associated heavy equipment.

The successful candidates will provide hands-on mechanical support to maintain the safety, reliability and availability of our fleet and equipment. This position requires substantial practical mechanical experience and the ability to independently inspect, diagnose, troubleshoot, maintain and repair heavy-duty equipment within an operational transportation environment.

Responsibilities

- Inspect, diagnose, troubleshoot, maintain and repair heavy-duty trucks, trailers, heavy equipment and specialized transportation equipment.
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic faults.
- Perform preventative maintenance and scheduled servicing.
- Diagnose and repair diesel-powered equipment and associated mechanical systems.
- Inspect, diagnose and repair braking, steering, suspension, air and other mechanical systems.
- Repair, replace and adjust defective components, assemblies and equipment.
- Inspect equipment for defects and determine appropriate repair requirements.
- Diagnose equipment breakdowns and determine appropriate corrective action.
- Maintain and repair trailers and specialized heavy-haul transportation equipment.
- Perform or assist with welding, fabrication and equipment repair work where appropriately qualified and authorized.
- Respond to mechanical concerns and defect reports from drivers,



operators and transportation personnel.
- Assist with field diagnosis and equipment repairs when operationally required.
- Communicate equipment condition, repair requirements, priorities and anticipated downtime to shop and transportation operations personnel.
- Complete inspection, preventative maintenance and repair documentation accurately.
- Support preventative-maintenance programs designed to improve fleet reliability and reduce unscheduled equipment downtime.
- Assist with practical training and mentoring of apprentices, drivers, operators and less-experienced employees where appropriate.
- Maintain a safe and organized work environment.
- Follow company safety procedures and applicable occupational health and safety requirements.

Experience Requirements

- Minimum 5 years of substantial, relevant hands-on experience working with heavy equipment, heavy commercial vehicles, truck and transport equipment, heavy plant or a closely related mechanical workplace.
- Applicants must demonstrate practical experience in mechanical troubleshooting, diagnosis, preventative maintenance and repair of heavy-duty equipment.

Education and Trade Qualifications





- Formal post-secondary mechanical or trade training is an asset.
- Substantial relevant hands-on industry experience will be considered alongside formal education and industry training.
- Applicants must hold, or be eligible to obtain, any Alberta trade authorization, certification or registration legally required to perform the duties assigned to them.
