OnCourse Education, a registered private secondary school and learning center in Hamilton, is currently accepting applications for qualified tutors/teachers to provide one-on-one or small-group tutoring support to secondary school students, with the possibility of also teaching high school credits. Our secondary school tutors/teachers help students in Grades 9 – 12 develop learning independence and help individuals reach, and exceed, their academic goals.

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic tutor to help students achieve their academic goals. The ideal candidate will have a passion for teaching, strong communication skills, and experience working with secondary level students. This role involves providing personalized instruction in subjects such as math, data management, and the sciences to help students improve their understanding and confidence.

The tutor will play a vital role in fostering a positive learning environment and inspiring students to reach their full potential.

Duties

- Conduct one-on-one or small group tutoring sessions tailored to each student's needs
- Assist students with homework, test preparation, and skill development in subjects such as maths. data managment and sciences.
- Develop customized lesson plans and educational materials to enhance learning outcomes




- Monitor student progress and provide constructive feedback to students and parents/guardians, as well as midterm and term end reports
- Incorporate technology and computer skills into lessons to engage students effectively
- Maintain a positive and encouraging atmosphere that promotes student confidence and motivation
- Collaborate with program supervisors to align tutoring strategies with classroom curricula
- Adapt teaching methods to accommodate diverse learning styles and special education requirements

Experience

- Prior experience working with students in an educational or tutoring setting is preferred
- Background in tutoring or teaching, especially in math, data management, and sciences
- Knowledge of special education practices is a plus
- Strong computer skills, including familiarity with educational software and online learning tools
- Experience with classroom management and Ontario Secondary curriculum development is advantageous
- Demonstrated ability to communicate complex concepts clearly and effectively to students of varying ages and abilities

Job Type: Part-time Pay: From $20.00 per hour
