Junior Engineer / Civil Engineering Technologist - Highway Engineering

Eagle Engineering specializes in civil engineering consulting services for Provincial and Municipal highways. Our specialties include highway design, geometric data collection, surveying, drafting, technical reporting, construction supervision and administration of major construction contracts.

THE ROLE

Eagle Engineering is looking to grow our team of professionals. This is primarily an office-based position, with the opportunity and expectation to gain practical experience in the field.

The successful candidate will work closely with experienced engineers, technologists and project staff, developing their technical skills while gaining exposure to all stages of highway projects.

RESPONSIBILITIES

- Assist with the design and development of highway and road infrastructure projects, including grading, drainage and related improvements.
- Prepare engineering drawings, construction details, technical reports, specifications and contract documents.
- Develop and grow your knowledge of design and drafting using AutoCAD Civil 3D, AutoCAD, Sidra and other engineering software.
- Assist with data collection, analysis and project documentation under the direction of experienced technical staff.
- Assist with preparation of cost estimates, tender packages and other project documentation.
- Participate in construction administration and project coordination activities.
- Attend construction sites and client meetings as required.
- Participate in field activities as assigned. This may include construction inspections, surveying and material testing.




- Work with contractors, clients, utility owners, landowners, and other stakeholders as required.
- Assist with monitoring project progress and quality of work.
- Assist with field inspection reports and project tracking.
- Gain exposure to construction specifications, contract administration and interpretation of project requirements.
- Support project staff with design, construction and post-construction activities.
- Work collaboratively with engineers, technologists, inspectors and other project team members.
- Contribute ideas and identify opportunities for improvements to processes and project delivery.

QUALIFICATIONS We are interested in candidates from either of the following backgrounds:

Civil Engineer / E.I.T.

- Degree in Civil Engineering. Registered, or eligible for registration, with APEGA.

Civil Engineering Technologist
- Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology or a related discipline.
- T.T. (or C.E.T.) designation, or eligibility for designation, is an asset.

EXPERIENCE

- Approximately 1 to 2+ years of related experience, preferably involving transportation, highway or civil infrastructure projects.
- Proficiency or developing proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D is an asset.




- Knowledge of Alberta Transportation standards and guidelines is an asset.
- Possess a valid driver's license, with a clean driving record.
