Job Summary The Junior Production Supervisor reports directly to the Production Supervisor and is responsible for supporting the daily management of production operations across multiple packaging rooms. This role serves as the primary point of contact for Production Team Leads during the assigned shift and provides leadership, coaching, and operational support to ensure production objectives are achieved safely, efficiently, and in compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Good Production Practices (GPP), Health Canada regulations, and internal quality standards.

The Junior Production Supervisor is expected to lead by example while developing the leadership skills necessary to progress into a Production Supervisor role. This position is responsible for coordinating production activities, supporting employee development, monitoring production performance, resolving operational issues, and ensuring all production documentation and quality requirements are completed accurately.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Team Management

- Provide daily leadership and support to Production Team Leads and production employees to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant operations.
- Lead daily production stand-up meetings to communicate production priorities, staffing assignments, safety reminders, daily targets, and anticipated production challenges.
- Coach and mentor Production Team Leads, providing guidance in problem-solving, decision-making, and leadership development.
- Promote a culture of accountability, teamwork, professionalism, and continuous improvement throughout the production department.
- Monitor employee performance and provide recommendations to the Production Supervisor regarding coaching, recognition, performance improvement, and development opportunities.
- Ensure production staff remain current with all required training and competency requirements,



coordinating additional training where necessary.

Production Planning & Oversight
- Coordinate production activities across multiple production rooms to ensure schedules are achieved while maintaining product quality and compliance.
- Ensure each production room is prepared prior to start-up by verifying pre-operational inspections have been completed and all cannabis and non-cannabis materials are available, accurate, and approved for use.
- Support Production Team Leads by monitoring workflow, balancing labour resources, and addressing production bottlenecks to maximize operational efficiency.
- Monitor hourly production performance and assist Team Leads in meeting daily production targets.
- Respond to production issues, equipment concerns, staffing challenges, and scheduling conflicts, escalating significant issues to the Production Supervisor when required.
- Assist in coordinating production changeovers to minimize downtime and maximize productivity.

Quality, Compliance & Safety
- Ensure production activities are conducted in accordance with Health Canada regulations, company policies, SOPs, Work Instructions, and Good Production Practices (GPP).
- Verify that required quality checks, reconciliations, and production documentation are completed accurately and in real time.
- Collaborate with Quality Assurance and other departments to investigate production deviations, inventory variances, product discrepancies, and operational issues.
- Support investigations by gathering documentation, interviewing employees, identifying root causes, and implementing corrective actions as directed.
- Work collaboratively with the Management Representative on the Joint Health and Safety Committee to promote safe work practices, identify workplace hazards, and implement corrective actions to reduce risk.
- Ensure employees consistently follow safe work practices and wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).





Training & Continuous Improvement
- Identify opportunities to improve production processes, workflow, efficiency, product quality, and overall operational performance.
- Standardize best practices across all production rooms through coaching, training, and consistent communication.
- Assist in developing, implementing, and maintaining training programs for new and existing production employees.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives by providing recommendations to improve production systems, documentation, scheduling, and employee performance.
- Assist with implementing new procedures, process improvements, and operational changes as directed by management.

Communication & Administrative Responsibilities
- Maintain effective communication with Production Supervisors, Team Leads, Quality Assurance, Maintenance, Inventory, and other departments to ensure smooth production operations.
- Provide shift updates to the Production Supervisor, including production performance, staffing concerns, deviations, downtime, and operational challenges.
- Ensure accurate completion and review of production documentation, shift reports, and operational records.
- Support production scheduling activities and assist with labour planning to ensure adequate staffing levels are maintained.
- Act as the Production Supervisor's delegate during periods of absence or when assigned additional supervisory responsibilities.

Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required; post-secondary education in Manufacturing, Operations Management, or a related field is considered an asset.
- Minimum 2 years of manufacturing, packaging, pharmaceutical, food, or cannabis production experience.
- Previous leadership experience as a Production Team Lead or equivalent supervisory role preferred.
- Strong understanding of Good Production Practices (GPP), Good Documentation Practices (GDP), and Health Canada regulatory requirements.
- Demonstrated ability to lead teams in a fast-paced manufacturing workplace.
- Strong organizational, communication, coaching, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient with Google Workspace, production documentation, and inventory tracking systems.
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks while maintaining attention to detail and compliance.
