: Dishwasher & Inventory Assistant
Location: Exchange Café, Rotman School of Management, University of Toronto Department: Kitchen Operations Reports To: Executive Chef, Sous Chef and Production Supervisor
Position Summary The Dishwasher & Inventory Assistant is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe and organized kitchen while assisting with receiving deliveries, stocking supplies and managing inventory. This role supports daily café operations and catering services by ensuring that kitchen equipment and supplies are properly cleaned, stored and readily available.
Key Responsibilities
Dishwashing & Sanitation
- Wash, sanitize and properly store dishes, utensils, pots, pans and kitchen equipment.
- Maintain cleanliness of the dishwashing station, kitchen and designated work areas.
- Ensure clean dishes and equipment are available for daily operations and catering events.
- Dispose of garbage, recycling and compost according to established procedures.
- Follow all food safety, sanitation and workplace safety standards.
Receiving & Inventory
- Receive deliveries and verify quantities and product conditions.
- Properly label, date and store incoming products.
- Organize dry storage, refrigerators, freezers and kitchen supply areas.
- Follow First In, First Out (FIFO) inventory procedures.
- Monitor inventory levels and report shortages, damaged products or discrepancies.
- Assist with inventory counts and stock replenishment.
- Maintain clean,
organized and accessible storage areas.
Kitchen & Catering Support
- Prepare and organize kitchen equipment and supplies for daily café operations and catering events.
- Assist with loading, unloading and transporting catering equipment and supplies.
- Replenish kitchen and service supplies as needed.
- Clean and return equipment to designated storage areas after events.
- Assist the kitchen team with other operational duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Previous experience in dishwashing, kitchen operations or inventory management is an asset.
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation procedures.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs safely and stand for extended periods.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work efficiently in a rapid-paced environment.
- Reliable, punctual and able to work independently or as part of a team.
- Willingness to perform various kitchen and stockroom duties.
Performance Expectations The Dishwasher & Inventory Assistant is expected to maintain high standards of cleanliness, ensure proper inventory organization, complete assigned tasks efficiently and communicate operational concerns to supervisors. The employee may be required to perform additional reasonable duties based on the operational needs of Pegasus Campus Catering.
Pay: $18.00-$18.50 per hour
Expected hours: 25.0 – 40.0 per week
