We are looking for a reliable, patient, enthusiastic, and motivated Centre Assistant to join our team and support students in our Math and Reading programs.

Your Responsibilities

- Support students as they work through their individualized Kumon Math and Reading programs.
- Supervise, interact with, encourage, and motivate students during class.
- Provide guidance while encouraging students to think independently and solve problems on their own.
- Help students understand corrections and encourage them to identify and correct their own mistakes.
- Grade Math and Reading worksheets accurately and efficiently.
- Record student results and communicate relevant observations to the Centre Instructor.
- Help students organize completed work and prepare homework for their next session.
- Prepare and organize worksheets and student materials.
- Encourage students to stay focused and develop positive study habits.
- Support the Centre Instructor with student assessments and day-to-day centre activities.
- Welcome students and families in a friendly and professional manner.
- Maintain a clean, organized, positive, and welcoming learning environment.




- Work collaboratively with other Centre Assistants and the Centre Instructor.
- Perform other centre duties as required.

What We're Looking For The ideal candidate is:

- Patient, encouraging, friendly, and enthusiastic about working with children.
- Strong in Math and English.
- Comfortable working with students of different ages and learning levels.
- A quick learner who can understand and follow a structured learning approach.
- Able to encourage students without simply providing answers.
- Reliable, punctual, organized, and responsible.
- Detail-oriented when grading and recording student work.
- Comfortable communicating with students, parents, and team members.
- Able to work effectively in a busy learning environment.
- Previous experience working with children, tutoring, teaching, coaching, or childcare is an asset.

Qualifications

- Minimum Grade 10 Math or equivalent.
- Solid English communication skills.
- High school, college, and university students are welcome to apply.
- Previous experience working with children is preferred but not required.
- Candidates may be asked to complete a basic Math and/or English skills assessment.
- Training will be provided.

Schedule Part-time – approximately 8–15 hours per week

Our regular centre hours are:

- Monday- Friday: 3:30 PM – 7:30 PM
- Saturday: 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM

Applicants do not need to be available for every day. We are looking for candidates who can commit consistently to multiple scheduled class days. Please indicate your availability when applying.

Important Employment Requirements

- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
- References may be requested as part of the hiring process.
- Because this position involves working directly with children, an appropriate police record check / vulnerable sector check may be required, subject to applicable requirements.
- This is intended to be an ongoing part-time position. Candidates looking only for a short-term or summer position may not be suitable.
