ABOUT THE POSITION

We are seeking a highly skilled Licensed Automotive Diagnostic Technician with a strong interest in electrical systems, drivability concerns and advanced troubleshooting to start in January of 2027

This is a diagnostic-focused position for someone who enjoys understanding how vehicle systems operate, solving difficult problems and proving the cause of a failure before recommending repairs.

Your primary responsibility will be to investigate concerns, perform the appropriate testing and provide clear repair direction to the technicians completing the work. You will work closely with our service advisor and repair team to help ensure repairs are accurate, efficient and properly verified.

We understand that accurate diagnostics require knowledge, patience and appropriate testing time. A trouble code identifies an area of concern; it does not automatically identify the failed component. Our objective is to understand the system, confirm the root cause and recommend the correct repair.

The position will primarily involve in-shop diagnostics, with opportunities to assist our mobile division with complex diagnostic assignments when required.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

- Diagnose electrical, electronic,



mechanical and drivability concerns across a variety of makes and models.
- Verify customer concerns and develop logical diagnostic strategies based on symptoms, system operation and technical information.
- Diagnose intermittent faults, wiring concerns, parasitic draws, starting and charging problems, communication faults and module-related issues.
- Interpret wiring diagrams, electrical schematics, technical service bulletins and manufacturer service information.
- Use scan tools, digital multimeters, oscilloscopes, current clamps and other diagnostic equipment effectively.
- Analyze diagnostic trouble codes, live data, freeze-frame information, waveforms and control-module communication.
- Perform voltage-drop testing, circuit-integrity testing and vehicle-network diagnostics when required.
- Test components and circuits before recommending replacement.
- Differentiate between component failures, wiring faults, mechanical problems and software-related concerns.
- Clearly document diagnostic procedures, measurements, findings and recommended repairs.
- Include supporting photographs, scan results and test measurements when appropriate.
- Provide clear repair direction and supporting information to the technicians completing the work.
- Collaborate with the repair team to verify that completed repairs have corrected the original concern.
- Perform pre-repair and post-repair scans, calibrations, relearns and system resets when required.
- Communicate with the service advisor regarding diagnostic progress, additional testing requirements and confirmed recommendations.
- Assist with complex in-shop and mobile diagnostic assignments.
- Maintain diagnostic equipment and keep the work area clean and organized.
- Follow all company safety, quality-control and documentation standards.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
- Valid Ontario 310S Automotive Service Technician licence.
- Proven experience diagnosing complex electrical, electronic and drivability concerns.




- Strong understanding of sensors, actuators, control modules and vehicle communication networks.
- Ability to interpret wiring diagrams and understand complete circuit operation.
- Proficiency with professional scan tools and electrical testing equipment.
- Strong critical-thinking and problem-solving abilities.
- Patient, organized and methodical approach to diagnostic work.
- Ability to develop a theory, perform the appropriate testing and verify the results.
- Ability to explain technical findings clearly to service advisors and repair technicians.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accurate documentation.
- Comfortable using tablets, digital inspections and shop-management software.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with the rest of the team.
- Valid Ontario driver’s licence with a clean driving record.
- Personal hand tools appropriate for the trade.
- Experience with diesel engines, commercial vehicles, module programming or fleet maintenance is considered an asset.

Pay: $20.00-$45.00 per hour
