LPN – Post-Operative Care & Overnight Support

Luxcare Senior Care is looking for an experienced Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our care team for a post-operative care assignment in Victoria, BC.

We are looking for LPNs who are available for daytime care, overnight care, or both. The initial 1–2 weeks will involve a higher level of support as the client begins their recovery, with both daytime and overnight coverage needed. As recovery progresses and care needs decrease, the schedule will transition to shorter and fewer shifts.

The ideal candidate will be comfortable providing hands-on post-operative support, including catheter care and suppository/rectal medication assistance, within their scope of practice and the applicable care plan and orders.

What You'll Do

- Provide compassionate post-operative care and support
- Provide catheter care, including catheter changes where within scope and required
- Assist with suppositories and/or rectal medication administration as prescribed and within scope
- Provide daytime and/or overnight care based on your availability and the client's care needs
- Assist with personal care, toileting, mobility, repositioning and comfort
- Monitor the client's condition and report any changes or concerns
- Follow the established care plan and clinical instructions
- Provide medication assistance/administration as appropriate to LPN scope, care plan and orders
- Offer reassurance, companionship and emotional support during recovery
- Maintain a protected, clean and comfortable environment
- Complete accurate care and visit notes after each shift
- Communicate relevant observations and updates with the Luxcare team
- Maintain client privacy, dignity and confidentiality

What You Bring
- Current registration as an LPN in British Columbia
- Experience with urinary catheter care,



including catheter changes or related care
- Experience with suppositories and/or rectal medication administration
- Post-operative care experience strongly preferred
- Private-duty or one-on-one nursing experience is an asset
- Experience working in a home or community care setting is an asset
- Current First Aid/CPR certification
- Strong observation and clinical judgment
- Ability to recognize and communicate changes in a client's condition
- Strong documentation and communication skills
- Compassionate, respectful and client-centred approach
- Reliable and dependable
- Comfortable working independently while knowing when to seek support or escalate concerns

Schedule
- Daytime and Overnight Care
- We are open to applicants available for day shifts, overnight shifts, or both
- Initial 1–2 weeks will involve a higher level of support, with daytime and overnight coverage required
- Overnight shifts are generally 6:00 PM/8:00 PM to 6:00 AM/8:00 AM
- Overnight care is a resting shift. The caregiver may rest while the client is sleeping but must remain available and responsive to provide assistance when needed
- Daytime shifts will be scheduled according to the client's care needs
- As the client's recovery progresses, the number and length of shifts will gradually decrease
- Weekday and weekend availability may be required

- This is an in-person position in Victoria, BC
- The client is currently staying at an independent living facility in Victoria while recovering from surgery
- Applicants must be legally authorized to work in Canada
